“Fantastic budget hotel”

16 of us went to Berlin on a stag do from 1-4 June.

Hotel was really good quality for the price. I booked 3 weekend package rooms which were really cheap (£60 per night for the room). When we turned up at the hotel they wanted an extra E10 each night for a 4th person supplement. This was despite the fact that I had phoned the hotel to confirm that i would not be charged any more when we arrived. Luckily, after a bit of arguing the hotel agreed not to charge me any extra for these rooms as i had already paid in full.

Unfortunately, I had also booked another room on a more expensive rate (as they had run out of cheap rooms) which i paid for at the end of our stay. The hotel again wanted to charge me an extra E10 per night for the 4th person but this time they would not back down and charged me. This was despite me having phoned up to confirm I wouldnt be charged! This was very disappointing.

However, the rooms were still cheap and therefore we didn't let it affect our holiday. Just beware if you are thinking of booking this hotel that there is supposed to be a 4th person supplement.

The rooms were massive with 1 double, a couch bed and a pull out bed. There was also a pull out divider in the middle of the room to seperate the sleeping areas.

The bar area of the hotel was nice and beer was on tap 24 hours. it is located opposite Anhalter Bahnhof U station and is 10 mins walk to Potsdamer Platz - so a very central and handy location.

A word of warning, DO NOT go to the Stresseman cafe opposite the hotel entrance. We waited 30 mins to be asked what we wanted to drink and another hour before food started to arrive. After 90 mins we were still missing 2 drinks and most of our food so we left. The staff seemed surprised at our decision to leave! Unbelievable. Oh, and the food that did arrive was rubbish. There is a little kebab shop called Bistro ?something? diagonally across the road from the hotel. They did really nice kebabs, burgers, etc.

If you want to do something a bit different go to Spindler & Klatt restaurant / bar. You get your food served on beds whilst listening to cool tunes. Theres also an outdoor bar overlooking the river with more beds. And dont worry if it gets a little cold, the staff give you blankets. Its similar to Superclub in Amsterdam (but not quite as good).

On the friday we tried to go to Berghain but they wouldnt let us in - told us we wouldnt get in anywhere in such a big group. On the sat we split up and went to Tresor. Amazing club set in an abandoned building. Dirty techno played all night and the locals were all off their heads. Definitely one of the best clubs Ive ever been to.

“Good value hotel with large bedrooms”

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel and were very pleased with our choice. We booked through the Accor website and the fourth night stay was half price. The rooms are a very good size with a standard layout of a king size bed and a single bed. There is a type of screen that can be pulled over to divide the room. Some people might find the mattress a little hard but we had no problems. The toilet and bathroom are separate and there is a separate shower as well as a shower spray with the bath. There is plenty of storage and hanging space. There was a bonus of a kettle, microwave and fridge and small sink. However they only provide paper cups so would be worth taking your own cups and plastic spoons plus a few extra teabags and coffee! There is a small supermarket around the corner for stocking up the fridge!

The room was very clean and once the window was closed we were not disturbed by noise from inside or outside the hotel. There is air conditioning but it was not that efficient.

The reception staff were efficient and friendly and when we had a small leak in our kitchen area sink it was dealt with by the time we came back to the hotel that afternoon.

You could have free croissants and coffee/tea in the foyer but we used the Bistro Stressemann for breakfast, just across the road on the corner. Excellent breakfast served up to 4pm for about 4 euros.

As to position, the hotel is pretty central, one stop on the underground to Potsdamer Platz, and walking distance to Checkpoint Charlie. There are also buses near the hotel for getting about. We bought a 3 day transport pass for Berlin, well worth the money and it also gave you discount to get into museums etc. Do visit the VanDeWi department store and the amazing food floor! We would recommend Potsdamer Platz for a large choice of restaurants to eat in the evening.

“Good hotel, great location!”

I spent a weekend with two friends in one of their family rooms. The room was exactly as it was featured on the website of the hotel. One big double bed and an extra bed. We had a fridge in the room, and plenty of space. The toilet and bathroom were separated which was convinient for the three of us. Breakfast of coffee/tea and croissants (all you could eat!) was free with the room. Internet was also free downstairs. The staff was very friendly. We borrowed some umbrellas from the front desk on the first day for free, which was a nice detail... bright pink umbrellas! :)

The location is excellent, you can walk to the Brandenburg Gate in 15 minutes, and there is a subway stop just 20 metres away from the hotel door.

Highly recommended!

“Stylish low-end hotel”

Suitehotel Berlin Potsdamer Platz

The Suite Hotel in Berlin, belonging to the Accor group, opened in 2004. The rooms standardized rooms have a stylish interior, but tend be a bit cheap, especially the bath room. The location could be closer to the city, but an underground train is available close by.

“Ideal base for sight-seeing”

Suitehotel Berlin Potsdamer Platz

Arriving late at night was not a problem. The staff were friendly enough. We were very surprised by the size of the rooms. A lot more space than most European hotels. Good shower and bath and toilet was separate to bathroom which was handy. Nice to have a fridge in the room as well. It was also very quiet as we didn't hear noise from other rooms.

It's a great location for sightseeing. It's a 5 minute walk from Potsdamer Platz which has lots of shops etc for everything and Checkpoint Charlie.

On the downsides the air-conditioning in our room wasn't working and if you have the windows open the buses can be a tad annoying during the night.

Staff didn't seem to be too knowledgeable about the area. We wanted to go to see a Doctor/outpatients and they didn't know where the closest were and also weren't too helpful re pharmacists close by.

On the whole we would definitely stay there again as we booked through the hotel's website and it was a bargain for 3 nights.

Would also reccommend Bistro Stressemann across the road from the hotel for a breakfast or a late night drink and would highly reccommend a restaurant called Vapiano at Potsdamer Platz (it was so good we ate there two nights) for pizza/pasta/salads.
