“5 star hotel in best location in Berlin”

I booked this hotel through AMEX and was upgraded on arrival to a superb room with access to the Club Floor. Stayed here for a week. Staff are wonderful and welcoming, particularly the hostess on the Club Floor. Club Floor features three delicious food presentations each day with complimentary beverages. Incredible value! Also ate in the ground floor French brasserie which was superb. The quality rooms and cleanliness are beyond comparison. The gym is good, but the swimming pool is more of a plunge pool. This is a fabulous hotel and perfectly located across the road from a main subway - Potsdamerplatz. Also across the road is an excellent undercover shopping mall, cinemas, and a leading Berlin restaurant: Facil, which I can also recommend without hesitation. The hotel is within easy walking distance along one of the Tiergarten's bordering streets to the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, and Unter den Linden. In fact you can even walk to Museum Island from the hotel - probably takes 30 - 45 mins. Berlin is a city steeped in history and full of surprises not the least of which is this well appointed 5 star hotel at its epicentre.

“Deserves to be No. 1”

The Ritz-Carlton Berlin

The Ritz Carlton Berlin deserves the No.1 ranking in Berlin. It is one of the few hotels we have stayed in that manages to get everything right.

The entrance is very impressive – sweeping double staircase & elegant décor. There must be a very happy marble salesperson somewhere. Prompt & efficient attention from the Front desk.

Our king bed room on the Club Floor (10th) was large, comfy, luxurious and well-appointed. The bathroom is something else – acres of marble, separate walk-in rain shower, separate loo, two basins and large comfortable tub. Topped off with a beautiful orchid plant and Bulgari toiletries. There are some really good modern touches, such as electronic control centres for lights, curtains, “do not disturb” indicators, next to the bed.

The Club lounge is on a par to our previous favourite at the Fairmont in Boston. Very plush and comfy, with food almost constantly available & very attentive bar & drinks service. The breakfast spread was lovely – loads available at the buffet, including probably the best bacon & eggs we have tasted at a hotel anywhere.

Apart from the luxury, what really sets the Ritz Carlton apart from competitors is the level of service. The General Manager should be commended for the uniformly excellent service across the entire hotel. Friendly, professional, unobtrusive service at all levels. An example is that we were brought complimentary glasses of water in the lobby whilst waiting for a friend without even asking. Costs the hotel nothing, but makes a real difference. Another is that the Club lounge staff remember guests’ beverage preferences at breakfast. Otahuna Lodge in New Zealand is the only place we can think of that competes on service.

The location is very good. Although we always find Potsdamer Platz a bit soulless, there is no doubt that it is a very convenient central location. Excellent transport links with U-bahn and S-bahn services directly across the road.

We highly recommend this hotel. We visit Berlin regularly, and will make sure we stay here in the future.

“Very nice hotel, great location, patchy service”

The Ritz-Carlton Berlin

Sep 11, 2007

I have spent quite a lot of time in Berlin and was returning this august with a party of four people, 2 of which don’t know Berlin so the hotels central location was one of the reasons I chose it. The hotel was rated as the best in Berlin by Trip Advisor reviewers and I trust the Ritz Carlton Brand name.
I booked the hotel through Expedia and got a great rate £118 per night better than the hotels own web site.

On arrival we were greeted by the very helpful desk staff, we were early and our room was not ready but they took our phone number and called us whilst we were out to tell us that it was waiting for us.
We were upgraded to a room that was slightly bigger than the one we had booked as the hotel was quiet.
The size of the rooms are very good, their standard room is the same size as a deluxe room at other 4 and 5 star Berlin hotels.
The bathrooms are great with huge baths, walk in marble showers a separate toilet and double sinks, there are Bulgari toiletries and rose scented bath salts which are perfect after a busy day walking around Berlin.
The Gym is small but well laid out, the pool is very relaxing with power water jets at one end. I also used the plunge pool and sauna.
We used the Spa for pedicures and massage both very good.

The breakfasts are good with a very large range, but we ate outside the hotel on a couple of occasions as the restaurant was very busy and quite noisy.

The only thing that let us down on our stay was some of the service.

In the Tea Lounge and the Curtain Club on the ground floor, the staff were very pleasant but on 4 different occasions we had problems with our orders. The service was very slow or the order didn’t turn up, we were wrongly charged sometimes to our benefit sometimes to our detriment. On the second occasion the manager of these areas realized what was happening and came to speak to us, she was very professional and pleasant; we were given complimentary Petits Fours and champagne. Then the next day our order was wrong again and so on. Even though everyone was very helpful, I felt that this isn’t the level of service they would want to offer and when I returned home I received a letter from the marketing manager of the hotel saying the same thing to me.

This said I would stay there again as I think the problem was young inexperienced staff and they did everything they could to rectify mistakes.
The hotel is in a very convenient location, the rooms are large and comfortable, if you want cutting edge interior design this isn't the hotel for you but the furnishings and servicing are high quality with lots of small touches which set them apart from other hotels.
The concierge service was very good.
We got a great price and enjoyed or stay.

“The Ritz-Carlton Berlin lives up to it's reputation”

It will sound terribly blase but the Ritz-Carlton in Berlin is the best hotel I have stayed in Berlin and one of the best I have stayed in worldwide.
What makes it truly outstanding is not the facility, although it is grand in the old world style.Rather it is the impeccable service from every single staff member I came into contact with during my 3 day stay!
The sort of service that go's out of it's way to make you feel comfortable with receiving assistance. If you ask where is the breakfast room (mmm, don't get me started on the breakfast buffet...) any member of staf you ask will not point out the way or give you directions.Rather with a polite smile they will simply say "follow me sir" and lead you all the way there!
If you walk into the lobby with a piece of paper in your hand the staff will catch your eye and politely ask whether they can relive you of your burden!
and so on and so on.Really a rare experience in todays world of pre packaged microwaved service!
Throughly recommended!

“Great location, perfect interior, best service”

The Ritz-Carlton Berlin

Being the second time in the Ritz-Carlton Berlin, it raised quite some expectations to the overall experience. Getting into the hotel was again a pleasure, large wooden doors, incredible stairway and friendly staff. Although I have to admit that the service orientation of the staff is so much above the German average, that it feels sometimes strange to always get greeted. The rooms are still very, very luxurious. In the evenings, your bed get prepared and of course everything is clean. This time, I had a room where the toilet and the shower are in one room, better ask for a room with seperate shower, bath and toilet. Strange to me that the rooms still have regular TV's and no FlatTV's, but I guess that is too modern for those guys. Overall, still the most luxurious hotel that I have ever been too, and even for a very good price (we payed 205 Euro excl. breakfast +29 Euro). The only downside is that the hotel does not provide free Internet access, what a pitty for a hotel like this.
