“Great hotel for exploring Berlin”

Agon Frankfurter Allee

We stayed in the Agon for four nights in November. Despite there being a strike, we managed to get from Schoenefeld to the hotel with ease (using the S9 train which didn't take as long as anticipated based on previous reviews). The hotel was a great base for the City Centre, with the nearest U Bahn stop (Samariterstrasse) at the end of the next street. It takes less than 10 mins on U5 to get from there to Alexander Platz which we found to be an excellent base for the 4 days. All trains/buses to the usual tourist attractions went from there and getting around the city was unbelievably easy. We got the 72 Hour Welcome Card which included a booklet with discounts on lots of the tourist places (inc DDR Museum, Checkpoint Charlie Museum, Berlin Store to name but a few).

We booked a double room and found it to be spacious and immaculate every day. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast was included in our very reasonable price for the stay and there were many options available each morning. Cold meats, cheese, cereal, yoghurts, muesli etc - if you want a fry up, you're in the wrong country but cakes for breakfast was an added bonus!

There were ample shops and restaurants in the vicinity however as it was so easy to get into the City Centre up until midnight, we ate out in town every night. The area by the hotel is well lit and we felt completely safe walking around at night. There is a great shop on the corner of Kinzigstrasse which sells everything from snacks to extremely cheap alcohol. We've never seen large bottles of Becks so cheap!!! The staff were also very friendly.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay at the Agon and would definitely refer our friends there and would stay again. Don't be put off by the location as it really is very easy and quick to get into the City Centre. Trains going every 5 mins except on a Sunday when they're every 10 mins!

“A Great Value Hotel”

Agon Frankfurter Allee

I booked this hotel as I required a family room and was very impressed with it.
The room was huge and had the usual two singles pushed together plus a sofa bed, which had already been made up for us.
The hotel was easy to find thanks to previous reviewers giving excellent directions to it. It is only a block away from Frankfurter Allee on a street running adjacent to it but as the U bahn has different exits it could be confusing without a map or directions, as you would possibly exit the wrong side of the street.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and there is nothing that I could fault about it at all.
Breakfast was more than adequate with a very good selection.
We used the bar once, which we had to ourselves and the kids were able to surf the net whilst the parents enjoyed a beer.
I thought the 90 euros per night which we paid represented excellent value for money.

“Very impressed”

I wasn't quite sure about the hotel when I booked it. I booked it on the basis of the good reviews here and was impressed on arrival. The staff are good, breakfast is more than adequate, even though the breakfast area has the feel of a university canteen about it. The bar area is small but I never saw anyone using it during my stay.
The room I had overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel, it was comfortable and clean although would not have been suitable for a couple (twin beds toe to toe).
The hotel itself certainly stood out in the area, it's been renovated and looks a little out of place in a run down part of the old East Berlin. But the area is perfectly safe, and within easy reach of Samaritser Strasse U-bahn station.
Yes, there are hotels with a better location in relation to the city centre, but this is a good hotel and I would stay here again.

We had a short stay of 2 nights in this hotel and my wife and I were impressed. Large, clean room, substantial breakfast and a short walk to the underground and the quick connections to Alexanderplatz. Thoroughly recommended ,especially for slightly older guests, like us.
If coming from Schonefeld Airport, take the cheap regional express train-don't get on the S-Bahn,takes much longer and was suffering from disruptions because of trackwork
