We were expecting great things of the Hotel Mueller after reading the innumerable 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor. We came away just a little disappointed. We loved our "room", which was huge, more like a suite. The traditional decoration was delightful, and it had a huge bathroom and a seperate walk in closet, as well as its' own entrance hall. The room had a spectacular view of the Hohenschwangau Schloss - so far, all good! Our slight diappointment lay in the fact that while checking in, the staff seemed to want us to book for dinner immediately in the hotel, and the information given to us was somewhat rushed and condensed. Later that evening I noticed some new guests (Americans) checking in, and they were being given very attentive service and being given much more detailed information than we had received. Not sure if this was because we were only staying the one night, or because we had our scruffy hiking gear on?....Maybe I am being oversensitive, but this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in in 6 weeks, it was our "treat" hotel, and we managed to feel a bit second rate here.
The breakfast was quite good, but I found out later that we could have asked for egg & bacon etc. to be cooked, but we were not told this previously. That being said, when I went to use the free internet, it was not responding, so the kind ladies in reception at the time let me use their staff computer to contact home. The hotel is certainly beautifully situated, we had an easy 5 minute walk uphill to Hohenschwangau, and a somewhat harder 30 minute walk up to Neuschwanstein.
