Huge rooms, large bathrooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet - highly recommended, and good value for €90 per room (for up to two people). Montreuil itself is worth seeing, and has several excellent restaurants.

Business serviceThe Hermitage is a good choice for a quiet break in peaceful surroundings. The rooms are large and the atmosphere is tranquil. One of the very few places that I have stayed where I did not hear the cleaners, the adjacent residents or people passing in the corridors - and the hotel was full!
Well situated within a few minutes walk for all the restaurants and cafes. Note that in August all the good restaurants, including the hotel one, were fully booked at weekend evenings.
service in the breakfast room was good and the food adequate; there are no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms.
There is ample no-charge car parking right outside the front of the hotel..
Good hotel- spacious room, huge bath towels (always a bonus) in a huge bathroom and overall a reasonable price, but this hotel could do better. Nowhere to get a drink until the bar opens at 5.30, no room service, and, as stated by reviewers before, no tea or coffee facilities in the room. The restaurant was a little pretentious- do not be fooled by the board advertising a 16 Euro meal- this is only available at lunch time. When we asked why the board was still outside in the evening, we were rather rudely told that it was perfectly clear that it was only available at lunch time. Not clear to this oldie! Settling for the 25 euro menu, we had a very limited choice, but accomplished cooking. Great if there is nothing on the menu to which you are allergic or which you dislike! My limited choice was limited to one dish- no starter or dessert- without eating from the expensive a la Carte menu. I did feel that I was expected to be grateful for the priviledge of eating there. Otherwise the service was friendly and efficient.
This hotel could be very good indeedwith a bit more effort.

Business serviceTwo couples enjoyed a long weekend end at this large hotel impressively sited and converted from the old Hotel Dieu (hospital) founded in the middle ages and modernised under Napoleon III. The only traces of its former role are the flamboyant chapel adjoining and the very large and high windows to the rooms particularly on the back elevation. The rooms are spacious, and have the largest ensuite facilities I have seen. No bidet though, and a stool or seat in the bathroom would have been welcome. So would the opportunity to make an early morning cup of tea or coffe in the room. Service was effective and friendly, both in the hotel itself, and the adjoining restaurant, Le Jereboam. The restaurant provided a short menu of interesting dishes well presented, but is a little expensive and in my mind lacks atmosphere. The bar in the hotel is long and narrow, and one of us was rather rudely pushed out of the way by a member of a golfing party desperate for an ashtray.. All in all though, we enjoyed ourselves on our second visit, and I would certainly go back again.

On a repeat visit to this attractive hotel in an historic building in the heart of Montreuil, we found that standards had been maintained. Staff are welcoming and helpful and rooms are simply furnished, comfortable and well-sized. The hotel has its own car park, for which there is a daily charge - but there is free parking in the square opposite. There is also a bar with friendly, efficient service. There is now a restaurant at the hotel but, as we didn't dine there, we can't comment. (There is also a spa attached to the hotel and, unfortunately, signs advertising the spa have been plastered around the entrance, detracting somewhat from the elegance of the building.) Hôtel Hermitage is a well-run hotel providing good value for money. Useful as an en route stop-over for a Channel crossing or as a base for a short break.
Montreuil is a fascinating little place with an ancient abbey, lovely walks and canoeing on the river. There are several hotels, a variety of small shops and some excellent, reasonably-priced restaurants. We can recommend Les Trois Capucins, Le Darnetal (very close to the hotel) and the slightly more expensive, Les Hauts de Montreuil.
