We tried this hotel based on the recommendations from trip advisor postings. We had no problems with cigarette smoke but that could be due to the fact that the hotel guests were predominantly non-smoking Americans during July! Our room was very spacious. We had one room with a queen sized bed, en suite bathroom/tub/shower, a refrigerator and cable TV while the kids had an attached bedroom with 2 twin beds, their own shower/sink and their own TV. There is not much need or desire for TV while in Paris but the kids enjoyed a few minutes of French cartoons at the end of a long day of touring. The rooms were facing a seemingly small side street but it was noisy from early in the morning until late in the evening...solved that problem by shutting the windows and turning on the AC. Safe-feeling location, convenient to the metro, bus 69 nearby. The complimentary breakfast was unvarying over the 7 days we stayed there (especially for the kids) so we learned to buy yogurts and fresh fruit from the nearby market the night before and store them in our refrigerator for the next morning's breakfast.
This was a great price and place to stay for a family of four and we would happily stay there again on our next trip.

Have stayed here twice before in 2000 and will be staying again this September (2004). The staff is very cordial, plus the rooms are very clean. Don't let the small reception area and elevator turn you off. For the price and location it is the best that I found in 2000 and the best for this trip. Great neighborhood restaurants (3) right by the hotel.
