“Good Location, basic hotel”

I have stayed at this hotel several times this year with the most recent November 2005.

I've reserved directly through the hotel website as well as through hotelclub.net .. each time, the rates have been under 100 Euros.

The location is directly on Rue Rivoli about midway between Hotel du Ville and Saint Paul metro stops with grocery, shopping and restaurants all an easy walk. I arrived to the hotel using both metro stops and there's really no difference apart from if arriving from CDG on the RER, Hotel du Ville is a more convenient stop.

It's also in the Marais so walkable to places alone Rue du Temple and Rue des Archives which has several good 'local' restaurants and shops.

The rooms are basic and functional with coffee/tea and television. I will admit the rooms are small, and the shower tends to get water all over the floor, however it's a good value and a great location and I also don't tend to spend large amounts of time inside a hotel room when visiting Paris.

A great value is the hotel offers free WiFi throughout the hotel which is great for a 3* property.

The hotel also has a large common area on the 1st floor looking onto Rue Rivoli. They do have a selection of newspapers and very bright to read if you want to get away from your room.

The breakfast isn't included generally, but it's an OK selection of basic things and about 7 Euros. There are also several creperies nearby and cafes to take breakfast, but if you don't want to leave the hotel just yet the breakfast offered fits the bill.

“Great location, great hotel by French standards!”

I don't know what the last review was on about, it appears we were there around the same time and we thought it was really good.
We booked this hotel through the Eurostar website and I was a bit apprehensive about it because it received mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, but honestly this hotel was really good. The room is quite small, but then all French hotel rooms are so we knew not to expect anything else. The bathroom however was a good size, with a large bath tub and very bright decor, and the shower was quite powerful, exactly what you want after a day trawling round the city. Breakfast was not included in our rate but we didn't mind since we got an opportunity to try out our French buying pain au chocolat at a nearby boulangerie.
We didn't have much need to speak to the hotel staff but when we asked anything, they were more than helpful, and offered us a late check-out on the morning of our departure.
This hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Hotel de Ville Metro stop, on the Number 1 line which takes you right to the Louvre, perfect for a spot of "touristing". If you want a central base for all your sight-seeing and travels around the city, this place is perfect. Loads of bars and restaurants around the area so you'll be spoilt for choice! enjoy!!

“Certainly not 3 star!”

This hotel is nothing like its depiction on web sites! Our room was terribly small and gloomy, with broken drapes and filthy head board on the bed. The floor had not seen a hoover in some time. The bathroom was clean but tiny, having to step over the toilet bowl to enter the shower cubicle.
The only good thing about this hotel is its position, as it is close to a metro station, has great restaurants close by, and is a 5-10 minute walk to Notre Dame.

“Good first visit to Paris”

France Louvre

4 of 5 stars

I have just returned from a few days in Paris, along with two friends. We had 2 rooms, a twin and a single in the France Louvre. Both were very acceptable and clean with very clean bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned and towels changed each day. The rooms were quiet as they were at the back of the hotel away from the street. We found the reception staff very friendly and helpful. The first floor lounge/lobby was being redecorated so unfortunately was not in use.
Breakfast had a good variety with cereal, yoghurt, cheese, eggs, bread and fruit, though service was not quite as good on one morning as the other two.
The lift is small, as in other hotels, and the stairs and quite high baths would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility, but otherwise we found this hotel very good and reasonably priced. The location is great, within walking distance of so much that we wanted to see on a first visit to Paris - less than 15 minutes to the Seine and Notre Dame, and a few minutes to the Marais, which I particularly enjoyed in the morning between 8 and 9 am. I would be very happy to return to this hotel.

“Most Annoying Hotel Ever”

France Louvre

We travel in Europe a lot and our 2001 stay at the France Louvre was so absurdly frustrating it has become, in the intervening years, almost funny.
Our room was shockingly shabby, the safe key had, evidently, been lost years before and we (literally) couldn't open the window without moving the bed to the other side of the room.
What a drab and dreadful little place. Please, please don't stay here if you have dust allergies.
