I have stayed at the hotel three times, once in 2003 and twice in 2004 and I will recmmend it to anyone wanting to spend a good time in Paris. The rooms are european size, specially in Paris where space is at a premium, but the smallness of the rooms is greatly compensated by the kindness and friendliness of the staff. The subway entrace in Rue des Bolets is few steps from the hotel. The location is very nice and safe, and there are shops and supermarkets nearby. Across the street there is a kosher supermarket!.

Me and my wife have made the Grand Hotel Francais our second home in Paris.

Lovely hotel, rooms a bit small, as said in other reviews, but found staff very helpful, and the hotel is only about 20 metres from Rue Des Boulets metro station, so getting around Paris was easy.

Was our first ever trip to Paris, and it was thoroughly and enjoyable, and the room and shower were great for when we returned from a long day out.

Would happily stay there again.

This is a fair hotel. Room was clean, although small. Good breakfast actually. Very filling and the croissants were delicious. Only problem with my particular room was the smell from the bathroom. Pipe problem I think. Solved by opening the large window in the bathroom and closing the door btwn the bathroom and the room. Probably a specific room problem.

Other issue is the location: nice, quiet neighborhood. A bit out of the way from the tourist areas. could be a + or -. Near the subway but still ... I would prefer to stay in a more central area next time.

For a first trip to Paris, one could not find a better place to stay than Au Grand Hotel Francais; it's centrally located between 2 major metro stops, in a wonderfully walkable neighborhood with shops and cafes abounding: even a supermarket. While the roms are charming, one of the best things about it is the staff - they seem to work 24/7, are wonderfullly helpful, multilingual, and a pleasure to be around. We will always come back to this hotel.
