“Excellent modern hotel”

Fels Point

5 of 5 stars
Donegal, Ireland
May 28, 2008

This hotel is a new modern hotel and I found very little fault with it. The bar food was gorgeous-tasty, well presented and cheap.
The rooms are decorated in bright modern colours and are very spacious with air conditioning that you control. I felt really at home in the room. Bathroom big and spotless. The breakfast was from a menu rather than the usual buffet greasy style breakfast, I chose an omelette -lovely. Service was a little bit slow- I had to ask to be served and for my table to be cleaned as there was no clean tables. The hotel doesnt have a pool, just a steam room, sauna and chill out area- I spent an hour here reading the complimentary newspaper in total peace -very relaxing!
I stayed in the hotel on business and will definately be returning on pleasure!

“Restaurant staff let this hotel down!”

We were really looking forward to our stay in Fels Point after reading most of the other reviews but were very disappointed.

On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and we the room was ok apart from a few little things!

However, breakfast the following morning was a disaster. Firstly we were waiting five minutes to be seated, which I could have forgotten about. We replied "Tea" when asked what we would like to drink. However, we received tea and toast (without butter, sugar or milk!!!) when we had FINISHED our breakfast after having asked three separate staff members! We just left.

Before dinner we decided to go to the bar to watch the Heineken Cup Rugby Final but the bar had no Sky Sports, which also annoyed many of the other customers. We had also hoped to watch the Irish soccer match later on so this was disappointing.

Taking all of the above into account we decided to give the hotel a chance and were looking forward to dinner. However, like a previous reviewer (review titled "Disappointing") we also booked a package and had a similar experience at dinner. The waitress made it more than obvious that we were on a package and I had to ask for the "normal" menu. My partner asked what a certain dessert was. The waitress did not know and did not find out! We were NEVER asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. She didn't smile once!!! It felt as if we were not worthy of service and this is putting it mildly! As we were leaving, a different server followed us out the door of the restaurant telling us we had to sign for our meal, which we had ALREADY done. This was really embarrassing.

After dinner we decided to return to our room and stayed there until the morning. We got up early and breakfast ran more smoothly as we decided to stick with juice and cereal.

Overall the hotel is nice but the restaurant staff ruined our stay at this hotel.

“Great hotel & brilliant staff!!”

Fels Point

Dublin
May 19, 2008

Myself and my partner have just returned from this excellent hotel. We had originally booked to stay 3 nights but loved it so much that we asked to stay a fourth!!! Luckily that was no problem.

We cannot praise the staff and management highly enough. They were very friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble (even putting our ice packs for our cooler in the freezer for us). They are a huge asset to the hotel.

The hotel itself is excellent. The only complaint I would have is that the bed is a wee bit too hard lol. Other than that the room was spacious, clean and the air con a godsend.

We ate in the hotel each night, the food and service was that good. Full complements to the chef and kitchen crew, they produced excellent, and extremely tasty, food each night. The restaurant management and staff were excellent, and again, a huge asset to the hotel.

We will definitely be paying a return visit.

“Lovely Hotel”

Fels Point

May 7, 2008

We stayed at Fels Point for five nights in March. It is a lovely hotel, spacious rooms absolutely spotless and great breakfasts. The staff are extremely helpful and we could not fault them. We ate in the dining room one evening and had our lunch in the bar the quality was excellent on both occasions. We look forward to returning to this hotel again. However, we could not find any source of heating in the bathroom and found it a little chilly.

“Wonderful in every way”

Fels Point

Apr 17, 2008

I booked this hotel after reading other TripAdvisor comments. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are large and spotless, the staff friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent. The location of the hotel is very convenient with plenty of car parking space.
I would recommend this hotel without reservation and it is very good value, in particular the two night B/B package with an evening meal on the first night.
