What a find! Our host Mary was absolutely exceptional, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We contacted Mary on arrival at the train station in killarney and she actually collected us herself. I think that she must have worked for kerry tourism as she was able to provide with loads of information on the area which is a big help when trying to entertain two children.
The accomodation at Elyod house is perfect, the bedrooms are lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean with beautiful views of the mountains. The dining room is beautiful and our breakfast was lovely. We will definitely will be back and i would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Elyod House to anyone.

This place was the worst B&B of our entire trip. Not saying that this place is horrible either. The room was clean, but tight. We found it difficult trying to place our suitcases down without tripping over them. The bathroom was average sized. The owners were of absolutely no help in suggesting sites to see or places to eat, and was the only B&B to not have pamphlets available to guests that we stayed at. The location was ok, as you could walk into the center of town or to Ross Castle if you don't mind a walking a bit of distance. The breakfast was horrible. It was like the owners wanted you out of there so quickly that they didn't completely cook your food. I certainly was not feeling well after the first morning there. On the second morning I order fruit and yogurt and was given a yogurt cup, an apple, a banana and an orange. First it was surprising to me to have that as a menu item as all other places offer you those things along with breakfast, but secondly I expected something more along of lines of a fruit salad or at least something that showed it took effort to prepare. Very disapointing. The entire experience felt like the owners just wanted to get you in, take your money and get you out.

Overall if you're only looking for a clean comfortable bed then this is the place for you, but if you're looking for something more than I suggest you keep looking.

“a great place to stay!”

Elyod House

I stayed in Killarney in April with a group of student studying abroad. My friend and I ended up staying in Elyod House for two nights. Although we were split up from our group, and both took turns being sick, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We saw our fair share of B and Bs and this was one of the best. The hostess was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rest of the family was the same. When my friend came down with a stomach bug, they were very concerned with our well-being and went out of their way to make us comfortable.

The house was gorgeous. The rooms were spacious and had big windows that looked out over a nice area of Killarney. It was right around the corner from a busy area of Killarney, but it was quiet and residential. The rooms were HUGE, and the beds were comfortable. The hosts took great care to make the house as quiet and relaxing as possible. There was a nice sitting room with a piano and the breakfast room was very elegant with big windows to the street, where one can watch the jaunting cars drive by. The whole house was clean, which is more than some Irish B and Bs can say!

I cannot comment on the price, as the arrangements were made for us, but I am sure it was definitely worth it.

We loved Elyod House--Mary is very charming. The room was quite spacious and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the fact that the dining room was large and every group had their own table. The location is perfect as it is a quick walk to town with Killarney National Park and Ross Castle just a short drive from here. We would definitely stay here again.

We were fortunate to stay two nights at Eloyd House. We would have stayed three if Mary had not been booked! She helped us get to the Travel Office in Killarney and there they have a site where you can find B&Bs that are available for the night(s) you are interested in. Nice not to have to keep calling one after the other to find something if they are booked! Mary was very warm and welcoming. Funny, charming, upbeat, etc. This B&B is immaculate not one thing dusty, etc. Just beautiful. We had to take a room with twin beds and our travelling companions had a double bedroom that was huge. Bathrooms have nice touches large mirrors, good size to move around, etc. We both enjoyed our stay there. The breakfast room is also large but not very cozy. Needs some more tables or something to soften an echoing room. It was chilly as well. The breakfast was delicious. The sitting room is as lovely as any we stayed in, again good size, tea and coffee fixings available all the time. Lots of pamphlets and ideas from Mary herself of things to do. Killarney however is such a wonderful destination. I fell in love with Muckross House and its gardens. Also went to Ross Castle and enjoyed it thoroughly. I highly recommend the Bricin Restaurant (Mary will make arrangements for you). The food was the best we ate in all of Ireland. Somewhat pricey but exquisite. You can dine there in casual attire but most people dressed up a little. I was in jeans with a nice sweater and Johnny the owner said it didn't matter in the least. Great shop downstairs too, I highly recommend it. There is a car park (no charge after 6:30PM) nearby. Laurels Pub was just ok the night we went. Apparently they cater to bus tours but we were told to expect good music and there was none on the Friday night we were there. At the B&B we could faintly hear the clip clop of horse's hooves from the carriages that go by all day - such a pretty site. They have parking on site. I highly recommend Eloyd House.
