Four of us stayed here for 3 nights in late June. When we arrived, there was an electricity cut throughout Killarney, so no restaurants were open. We went to Tesco and bought cold food and a couple of bottles of wine. Rosaleen immediately gave us 4 wine glasses and a spare chair so we could picnic in our room (by which time the electricity was back on), insisting that we didn't wash up the glasses. Dennis was very knowledgeable about the local area and sat down with a map of the Ring of Kerry and pointed out the places to stop. Rosaleen was full of stories about the area. The house was full and the guests were all very friendly - an atmosphere engendered by the owners. Very comfortable and well-furnished rooms with tea/coffee facilities. Thoroughly recommended with nothing to fault.

Our family of seven (three generations)stayed for three nights. Denis welcomed us and gave us great ideas for short and all day long excursions. Rooms were comfy (our children had separate rooms and shared the bathroom and were thrilled).Rosaleen served breakfast and took time to talk to us and gave us great ideas about restaurants and sights to see. The porridge is simply the best!! The fresh fruit was quite a treat.
Location was great--quiet and good location to take walks. With a car, getting to town was easy and great homebase to do ring of Kerry, etc.
Plus the fluffiest, soft towels!! Don't stay anywhere else.

“Home away from home!”

My husband and I stayed with the O'Learys for three nights in May '07. The home, and Rosaleen, were simply wonderful, and the most comfortable place to stay in every way.

The room was lovely, clean, and roomy with a very comfortable queen-sized bed, and the house had a very "loved" feeling - hard to describe, but so "homey". The decor is elegant without being overly fussy, and everything is where it needs to be. The breakfast room is delighful, and looks out over a garden patio for guest use. The garden is lovely - English roses, irises and columbines all in flower in May, a nice welcome as you walk to the entrance after a day out.

Breakfast was terrific - out of 3 B&B's we stayed in offering "traditional Irish breakfast", this was the best, and the Clonakilty black pudding convinced me it is actually really good (having had some bad examples in hotels). And the breakfast is made all that much better served by Rosaleen, who will happily and kindly chat away the morning with her guests, giving them all sorts of grand ideas for the day.

Location is as others have said, a bit of a walk to town, but through a lovely wooded park and fairly easy. For a late night, walk in and get a taxi back, or a car ride is only five minutes.

“Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Killarney!”

The previous writer did a great job of capturing the essence of Ross Castle Lodge. I echo everything they said. You can't say enough about
Rosaleen, with her kindness and hospitality. She puts everyone at ease and has such a nice personality. She is really good and committed to what she does. Her husband, Denis, was very nice, too.

We enjoyed our room with 2 beds (room #3). It was charming, clean and
roomy. The bathroom is huge. Breakfasts were good, too.

The location is beautiful and quiet. We were pleased that the Killarney National forest was right across the street. You can walk through the forest to get to town. The street that starts through the forest is truly across the street. It's also a beautiful walk to go down the street to Ross Castle, which is on a lake.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk to town which is where you really need to go eat lunch or dinner. It's a snap if you have a car.

We found out from Rosaleen that she could save us about 8 euros each over the tourist office cost when we took the Ring of Kerry tour. During the Ring of Kerry tour, we stopped to see how sheep dogs are trained and how they manage the sheep. It was adorable and worth the time. We certainly enjoyed Muckross House and gardens , which is must to see.

The Aran Sweater Market in Killarney has the same prices and probably
better selection -as their store on Aran island does.

The only change we would have made was to stay longer. We only stayed
3 nights and could have stayed a week. This place has it all- surrounding beauty and Irish hospitality.

“Top notch B&B- the best of our trip!”

We can’t express enough how much we loved this B&B, and particularly the warm, lovely and friendly Rosaleen O’Leary. If you are coming to Killarney, look no further than this wonderful B&B!

We stayed three nights at Ross Castle Lodge and were thoroughly impressed. There is plenty of parking right in front of the B&B, off the street. Rosaleen met us at the door and immediately made us feel welcome. She asked where we were from, where we’d been on our travels thus far, how she could help us explore Killarney, and offered up maps and suggestions. She is simply one of the friendliest and most endearing people we met in Ireland and her attentiveness and sweet nature were very much appreciated.

Our room was quite large, with a separate bedroom and sitting room. The bathroom was a large size as well, with very good shower. There was a television in the room and a writing desk. On the desk was a folder filled with information about nearby hiking trails, sights, restaurants and local events- very helpful! The big back window looked out on the O’Leary’s garden. We really felt comfortable here and slept well. Breakfast in the morning was just excellent. We enjoyed the Irish breakfast and Rosaleen’s potato waffle, something we really want to replicate now that we’re home. Rosaleen personally served breakfast every morning and happily chatted with all the guests. She was very interested in what everyone was seeing in the area and how they were enjoying their trip. She got everyone talking in the breakfast room. It was a great way to start the day.

Killarney is a fairly large town and can get noisy, so we were glad to be staying out of the town center in a quiet location. Yet, Ross Castle Lodge is just a quick drive into town when we needed to go there. The B&B is also walking distance to Ross Castle, and we enjoyed going down there at night and watching the sun set over the lake. We can’t recommend Ross Castle Lodge enough and want to say a special thank you to Rosaleen O’Leary for making our stay so wonderful. This is an excellent and memorable B&B-- we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Killarney.
