“What an AMAZING hotel!!! Lovely staff!”

Although I have used TripAdvisor numerous time to help with making hotel reservations, I have never written a review following a hotel stay. In this case, however, I feel absolutely compelled to express how delightful our stay was at the Killarney Royal. The hotel is lovely and the accommodations were just perfect (we were traveling with our 19 year old daughter and the spacious room had a king bed for us and a separate twin bed, not a roll-away, for her). The bathroom was large (two sinks) with plenty of amenities. But the most amazing thing about this hotel is the magnificent staff. From the moment we arrived until the second we left they could not have done more for us, and always with a beautiful smile. Any request was treated as a pleasure to accommodate us, and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The included Irish breakfast is one of the best we've ever had, and the servers made you feel like you were visiting them in their own home. Truly this is the friendliest and most accommodating hotel we have ever visited and I dearly hope to be able to return someday.

“What a great Hotel”

Killarney Royal

We stayed in The Killarney Royal Hotel for four days in the start of June. Just a pity the weather could not be organised by the Hotel as they would have probably organised a heat wave. Our room was large a very very comfortable. A Large KING SIZE bed was fantasic. On arrival we were treated to tea and biscuits. It was a real home welcome. They organised us a trip on the ring of kerry and Dingle . Bus collected us each morning and dropped us back in the afternoon. O Connors were the company and they are just wonderful. The driver was a hoot!!

We had dinner in the Hotel restaurent and it was very tasty indeed. Rack of lamb WOW!!. We got ice & water every evening and even a sweet on our pillow.

The staff were really friendly and you could not fault one of them. Always a smile and ready to help everyone of our silly questions.

The Bathrobes were a real treat , big cozy and warm.

I had one Major problem I had to go home, we look forward to coming back to the Royal, I hope nothing changes

“a quaint little hotel”

Killarney Royal

Jul 19, 2007

rooms are very big, decor a bit old fashioned but nice, bathroom was very nice, his n hers sinks, shower/bath , 2 bath robes, slippers and heated towels
we stayed in room 303 if you are a light sleeper avoid this room as its just next to the lift shaft and you can hear the lift going up and down, also there is a large window opening out to a roof which would be dangerous if children were staying in this room
oh the golf ball for the little putting practice set and the remote control were missing from this room too and reception couldnt replace them when requested
there is no parking but i did see a car park across the road in the outlet centre but i dont know how much the charge was for this
but over all our stay was pleasent location is great, staff were friendly ,food in the bar was really really nice, missed breakfast though (couldnt get our heads off the pillow) would i go back again....only if the room rates got cheaper as you can find alternatives for way less

“Disappointing at best”

Killarney Royal

3 of 5 stars
Plainview, New York
Jul 15, 2007

I was traveling with 12 family members, and we were really looking forward to the Killarney Royal. The location is excellent - right in town near pubs and restaurants. Unfortunately, some of the rooms we got were filthy, all of them smelled like mold, and it really needs a major update. One of them was just disgusting, and the floor in my room was gross. The bathroom could not get clean because the grout was so old. The hallway floors were so noisy I thought I'd wake up the entire hotel after enjoying an evening out just walking through and our door squeaked really loud. The food was adequate and the staff very friendly.

“Inconvenient parking”

My wife and I stayed for two midweek days early Feb 2007. There is no parking- you are directed to a council car park a couple of hundred yards away. The security of this car park is questionable especially bearing in mind that Ireland has the highest crime rate in the EU. There is also no parking directly outside the hotel to allow for unloading bags. The management should speak to the council about this because if it`s a problem in Feb when the hotel is nigh empty what is it like during the season? The hotel itself was comfortable, the room large and the staff friendly. The restaurant was only used for breakfast, other meals were served in the bar area. The food was average at best. I would suggest that the management consider connecting to satellite TV because in this day and age a choice of 4 channels, and one of those in Irish, is just not sufficient. Considering the wet Killarney weather I should think those TVs are pretty busy.
