“The 19th Green - a great guesthouse”

19th Green Killarney

5 of 5 stars
Scarborough, N. Yorks
Jul 1, 2008

We arrived at the 19th Green with not much of an idea about the area. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They gave us all the info. we needed and helped with all our enquiries.
The guest house itself is very relaxing and comfortable. Good sized bedroom with a nice bathroom.
The lounge is very relaxing with TV, music, a bar and a log fire.
The breakfasts were very tasty. One of the vegetarian options was a mushroom and onion tartlet - an unusual option for breakfast and delicious.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back.

“Good breakfast, well equiped room!”

Myself and my husband stayed here for one night , we felt that its a pretty good B&B and that its reasonably priced too!

The room we got had 2 double beds, sufficent storage, a full length mirror, tv, clock radio and tea/coffee making facilities, all of which contributed to a pleasant stay. The decour was ok but its a B&B so you cant expect much on that front.

The bathroom was well equipped, except for the shower which was a bit annoying. Its surrounded by a curtain which sticks to you and gives you no space.

The breakfast has to be praised. You have a choice! This makes such a nice change, most hotels cant even manage this! The choices were along the lines of Full Irish, a smaller Irish style breakfast, potato cakes or fish. In addition you get juice, cereal, tea/coffee & toast &brown bread. The dinning room is nice and the server checked on us to see if we needed anything else but he didn't pester us. All in all, breakfast was very good.

The B&B is about 10 minutes away from Killarney and is surrounded by pretty countryside. So long as you are not planning on partying in the town this is a good location.

The 19th Green is certainly a good option.

“A relaxing stay”

Friendly hospitality and excellent information about Killarney were provided by Freda and John. We ate at Chapter 40 on John's recommendation and it was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our large room with the nice view. Breakfasts were well done, with any combination of food we desired. The only negative was the hot water. When we turned on the hot water in the sink, it stopped the hot water in the shower. Other than that, you have a fabulous Guesthouse. We will return the next time we are in Killarney.

“relaxed, informal and friendly”

After a delayed flight from England, we finally arrived at the hotel at around 2 o'clock in the morning - instead of the previous evening. Our host was so welcoming and gave us an impromptu snack as he could see we were exhausted from our journey.

Our rooms were spacious, clean and had a plentiful supply of tea and coffee . Our rooms were also cleaned daily. Breakfast was plentiful.

The situation of the guest house was in the perfect position for sightseeing. It was also excellent value.

In all, the informal and friendly atmosphere generated by our hosts enabled us to have a thoroughly relaxing stay and I would recommend the 19th Green to anyone wishing to visit south west Ireland.

Stayed 4 nights in august. Travelling alone, I found myself in a lovely room with a double and a single bed. Clean and comfortable. Yes the shower could need a decalcification, but it is not really a problem! => Great value.
Very nice breakfasts, and good food and atmosphere in the restaurant.
Great hosts giving good suggestions for places to see, present but not intrusive, friendly and helpful (even after I left, and forgot my Credicard).
The Killarney area is very beautiful, and I would have loved to stay longer. Hope to be back instead sometime. I wouls of corse choose to stay here again!
