My mother, my sister, my daughter and I had a wonderful 10 days in Ireland and we all agree that our most memorable stay was at the Cahernane House - it was just as pictured and beautiful, even in the last days of winter! The rooms were huge, the bathrooms all first class and renovated, and the breakfast delicious! My mother especially enjoyed the atmosphere - as if you were a guest of royalty! We highly recommend a stay here - to top it off, we really enjoyed downtown Killarney - found two local pubs that had wonderful locals playing an singing - and we were the only Yanks in the place! Magical and friendly!

I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband.
The different wings of the hotel each have their own decor - old meets new with drawing rooms traditionally decorated and the newer part of the hotel containing the beautiful conservatory area.

Our room was situated in the new extension of the hotel.
The room although traditionally decorated was of excellent standard. It was very big with a living room area splitting the bedroom with an arch and a bathroom. The bathroom had a corner shower, under floor heating and a freestanding bath.

A turndown service was provided at night, with handmade chocolates, weather forecast and towels set out in the shower area,

The staff were courteous and professional at all times, I cannot recommend the restaurant at this hotel enough, the food was outstanding and service excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were probably one of the best I have had in Ireland.
My 0ne gripe was being charged 7.50 for a large bottle of mineral water, a true sign that rip-off Ireland is alive and well.

The hotel cellar "bar" lacks atmosphere at night, and the bars in the town are a lot livelier.

We were possibly the only Irish guests which I found a little strange, most guests were American.

Would definitely return to Cahernane House and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

The Positives:

Very handsome entrance down a tree lined street to a beautiful, stone victorian house. The service was excellent and friendly from start to finish. I would wake up and use the internet in the beautiful public rooms and inevitably someone would come and ask if I wanted a cup of coffee.

The public rooms are gorgeous and authentic with nice art. The bar is excellent and attractive with a nice selection of beer and Irish whisky.

The location is excellent being only a few minutes outside the hustle and bustle of Killarney--which is a lovely village.

The only negative (and this is a small one) is that the bedrooms are totally modernized and hence lack charm. There a few uninteresting prints on the walls of the bedrooms and the furniture is fine but not special. The bathroom was adequate and perfectly clean but, again, nothing special.

Our dinner here was average at best. Definitely take the gorgeous drive to Kendare and have dinner at the Lime Tree which was truly excellent

We would definitely come back because of the beautiful house itself, the lovely grounds and outstanding, friendly service.

A grand and peaceful mansion set in its own grounds with a modern but complementary bedroom wing . Its about a 25min walk or £5 taxi trip to Killarney town centre. A little jewel tucked away down an avenue of trees and quite divorced from the large bland touristy hotels on the Muckross Road. We stayed for 4 nights in a superior room (No. 47). The two evening meals were well presented and enjoyable in a lovely Georgian ambiance. There was a very good atmosphere in the cellar bar. All staff were friendly and helpful. Apart from a very minor niggle with a typical non-working hotel bath plug, it was a delightful stay, pricey but well worth it for all the above reasons.
