We spent two nights at the Lake Hotel based on reviews on Tripadvisor. What a great choice. The view from our third floor balcony allowed the best pictures we took during our trip. My husband is an early riser and got some close up pictures of the deer that roam the grounds and we watched them swim across part of the lake. I had never before seen deer swim.

Our room was comfortable and clean. The decor is a bit dated in the older part of the hotel but the expansion is newer so if that's important to you then you can ask for the newer part. We thought it was charming. The bathroom had been updated with a jacuzzi tub that I took full advantage of. There is also a large outdoor hot tub that we didn't use because I forgot to pack swimwear. The hotel arranged a privately guided fishing expedition with Rory for the two of us and we had a great time. He's a great guide and didn't laugh at my attempts at casting. My husband is an accomplished fisherman but I'm a novice and we both had fun.

We had dinner in the bistro one night which was good and breakfast was fine. The manager in charge was one of the Huggard family and he made sure that we were happy with everything. The service was attentive and we got to know the bartenders in the pub. There was live music one of the nights and we stood outside on the patio chatting with other guests that we met there. Another member of the Huggard family struck up a conversation with my husband in the lobby while I was checking out and they talked for over an hour. The management was very hands on to make sure that you're happy with the service.

What a fantastic place to stay. It had a true country house atmosphere right out of an Agatha Christie novel. There were friendly staff, friendly guests, entertainment , cozy rooms and cozy alcoves everywhere. It was a place you stayed out of your room and settled somewhere in the hotel. You could read, drink, talk and thoroughly relax in the most comfortable of settings. The view was incredible! Castle ruins and a beautiful lake full of ducks and birds lie out your window or balcony. Splurge on a lake view. It is worth it! It was the kind of place that you are sad to leave and can't wait to come back!
Far enough from the town (2 km) to enjoy the nature surroundings, but close enough for shopping, eating and seeing the sights. I can not wait to go again, and will definitely stay longer!

We stayed here for 3 days in april and i have to tell everyone about our wonderful experience.On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from the girl on reception.When we got to our room we were just blown away by the amazing view that we had out of our window and we even had a balcony where we could just sit and relax.It was breathtaking in the evening when the sun was setting and there was even a herd of deer right under our window.Amazing.
We ate dinner in the restauant 3 evenings and the food was of a very high standard.Lots of variety for breakfast in the morning and the staff were always very accomodating and always had a smile on their face.The manager always met us and asked us if everything was ok with our stay and even gave us a few tips on where to see the eagles which we saw not too far from the hotel.To see this magnificent bird in flight is awesome.
Well done to everyone in the lake hotel and hope to see you all again soon.

What a place, found it on the internet, beautiful location and great people working there. Wow views, deer a castle and the hot tub was great. We will be back !!
