Well done, Bewleys!
I really dislike staying in airport hotels! This is stating the obvious, but they're usually near busy roads, under or too close to the flight path and it's impossible to get a decent night's sleep.
I slept like a baby at Bewleys!
Location:
Well, apparently it's at the M1/M50 junction, but from the airport the courtesy coach travelled through country lanes for just over five minutes before arriving at the hotel, which appeared to be in quite a rural lsetting. Not what I'd expected at all. And a couple of other people on the coach were getting quite worried as the coach journeyed into the countryside: "I thought this was an airport hotel." The coach runs every twenty minutes to/from the airport, 24hrs a day - and there appear to be two coaches in operation, so I doubt if anyone would ever have to wait a long time.
Public Areas:
Huge lobby with bar and seating, absolutely packed out when I arrived on a Saturday evening. The television was blaring out and it was very noisy.
Located at the far side of the lobby was the room where breakfast was served, which must be capable of seating a large number; it was very spacious. When I went down on Sunday morning, it was almost deserted; a handful of people having breakfast, and probably more staff present than guests.
Bedroom:
My room was on the 8th floor with views over the back of the hotel (empty beer barrels, etc) to fields and beyond to Dublin. Spacious, light and airy. A double bed and a single. Crisp white bedlinen, duvets. Well-equipped: safe, tea/coffee facilites, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, free internet access. Bathroom too was a fair size. And, most important of all, I enjoyed a really peaceful, good night's sleep. Maybe I was just lucky, but no banging of doors or loud voices in the corridors, no hum of traffic, and no aircraft noise either. Perfect.
Breakfast:
I opted to pay for the full Irish breakfast: €12, which was self-service. As well as the cooked breakfast there was a selection of fruit (too much of it was tinned rather than fresh), yoghurt, croissants, bread, cereal, etc. It was OK - but not exceptional. Probably wouldn't bother next time.
Overall:
Definitely one of the best airport hotels I've stayed in, and definitely my first choice if ever the need arises to stay near Dublin airport in the future.
