Found this hotel on the visitdublin.com site and chose it for price in relation to standard and location. I like a hotel with a bit of charm and if I'm staying in Dublin I want a proper Georgian hotel. Was not dissappointed. Sure you can find more luxury and even better location for 2 or 3 times the price we paid, but for the price (paid about 100 Euro with breakfast for 2) and location this was better than expected and more than adequate for our needs - a romantic weekend away on a budget.

We had a room on the first floor, quiet, comfortable large bed (sheet and blanket - not duvet!), pleasant oldy-worldy decoration and furniture, not new but acceptable, not large but enough to move about. Window in room couldn't be opened, but when we turned down the radiator the temperature and ventilation was comfortable (OK in January - but might be a problem in summer). Adequate small bathroom with bath and plenty of hot water.

The staff were very friendly and helpfull, gave us good directions on the phone, helped with the bags, gave plenty of good information and price at checkout was as expected. Only negative here was no late checkout. No parking with hotel, but night porter will feed a meter for you in the morning. Breakfast is great - full Irish plus good choice from the buffet - kept us going all day.

The hotel is just a short walk from shops, bars and restaurants in Merrion Row and easy walk of the town centre. there is also a good bus service right into O'Connell Street.

We would definitely stay here again at the price - good value. I couldn't find better at this price in a good area so close to the city.

I visited this hotel in January in a weekend together with my 16 year old son. The hotel was a pleasant surprise, not to large but very nice and quiet room, nice atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff. The location was excellent, walking distance to almost all major attractions. Breakfast was very good and tasty. Only the bathroom was small, but clean and sufficient.
I would certainly go there next time and recommend it to friends.

Stayed in Longfields Hotel second week in December. Hotel is perfect. As I was visiting Dublin because of business, the hotel location was the first choice. Everyone in the hotel are helpful and can help you with everything. Staff is from diffeent part of world and it is amazing to see their dedication and helpfulness to make you feel home. hotel was decorated for Christmas and it looked very charming. Have a drink or read papers in reading/relaxing room. It has fantastic fireplace and you just feel so relaxed. Street is not noisy and you will be guaranteed good night sleep. As i was in Dublin on businesstrip, I did not even need to go out for internet or pay enormous amount money for connection. the wireless internet is covered in bedroom and it was completley free of charge.
Hotel is clean and breakfast served is fantastic, you can choose from cold buffet and hot irish breakfast. the only minus was that the restaurant was closed for renovation. But the reception staff booked my tables in three evenings nearby restaurants and their choice was good. I have no complaints to say about this hotel. Good and quiet place to stay and very central.
I will be back in Dublin February and I have already booked my room in Longfields again.

Despite reading a few dodgy reviews, we decided to give the Longfields a try because of the location. I'm pleased to say that we were not in the least disappointed with our decision to stay here. The location is as good as we were led to believe as it is within easy walking distance from the main thoroughfares of Dublin yet nice and quiet to get back to. There are several very good pubs and/or restaurants just around the corner as well as a small supermarket.
We were given a room in the basement which may be a little claustrophobic for some people as it was rather small (compared with other double rooms we have stayed in) and it entailed going up and down quite a lot of stairs to get from reception so not good for anyone with mobility problems.
However, everything else about the hotel was just fine. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and the full Irish breakfast was terrific.
We got a good deal via Expedia - one free night - so we thought the value was excellent too!

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Longfields. The service was great. The room was really special, decorated with old-fashioned furniture. Because it an old house there is some noise from waterheaters etc. Just a part of the charm. We thought what this hotel was really good value, located just 10 min. walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street. The breakfast was really nice and excellent service, there is a lot to choose from, both hot and cold.
If you want to stay in a hotel with personality and charm, this is the place.
