“Charming townhouse hotel with good location”

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Longfields. The service was great. The room was really special, decorated with old-fashioned furniture. Because it an old house there is some noise from waterheaters etc. Just a part of the charm. We thought what this hotel was really good value, located just 10 min. walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street. The breakfast was really nice and excellent service, there is a lot to choose from, both hot and cold.
If you want to stay in a hotel with personality and charm, this is the place.

“Three star hotel?”

We only stayed for two nights, which was enough. Our first room was to small, damp only just fit a double bed in and was smelly. The window didn't shut properly, which is a problem when your on the main road. The only other room available was still on the front(no problem the window shut) but on ground floor next to the front door. The door opening isn't the problem but the they lock the door at 11pm and to get in they then have to knock (the bell must not work),we are sure the night doorman must sleep because he doesn't open the door straight away. The interior of the rooms don't bother me but little things like plug sockets for the hair dryer no where near the mirrors and live cables showing on the cord of the dryer do.It is the only hotel that i have stayed in that didn't have a bar,but you could order bottles with the reception(we didn't use this facility so i can't comment). The only good word i can say was the morning breakfast was enough to set you up for the day. Did i mention the restaraunt was shut as well?
If they said it was a 2star B+B i would not complain, but a three star hotel is another matter.

What a impressive website but in reality this place is a dump.

I just stayed at this hotel last week and I am very disappointed with the service I received, especially as it is rated as a three star hotel.

I specifically booked this hotel as the hotel website indicated they have fine dining restaurant in the premises. However when I arrived at 5pm they told me there was no lunch or dinner provided to the guests. The front office clerk in his poor English helpfully offered to book a table somewhere nearby what we had to accept having no other alternative. However, advertising something not to actually have in the premises seems like a cheat. As a costumer i felt ripped off paying EUR 165 for B & B!

The room we had was very basic. As we were booked a double room that's what we got. However double bed was actually two single beds pushed together. The general apperance of room would say... very shabby and run down. We were expecting something like the hotel website indicates but... things were far from it. Even if the carpet was clean it looked dirty, as well the walls, the armchair. The bathroom very small and uncomfortable, water was warm (if you desire hot shower - forget it!) but water pressure... well something was dripping... so basic hygiene was possible. So, the room left a lot to be desired and one other thing - when we booked the room, we politely asked bathroom with bath if possible but this request was ignored by the hotel.

Everything was so far what we were expecting for our romantic getaway.

We also had to wait an hour for breakfast the following morning. it was basic and the service was very poor.
The hotel reception was from one wall to another. The man who checked us in not exactly into people skills. As we stayed there 2 nights we had a brief chat with one young, delightful and smart receptionist, his costumer focused approach and 'yes I can do" attitude helped to make our stay a little bit more pleasant. The woman who checked us out was rude and very 'clinical'.

Needless to say I won’t be staying at this hotel again!

“A little tired”

This hotel is in a good location and has many charming features, but sadly seems a bit tired these days and could use some updating. The rooms are small and those on the "front" facing the street are noisy.

There is no air-conditioning in the hotel, which normally would not present a problem. the heat-wave this July was probably an exception -- but there were times when it was uncomfortable.

The breakfasts are good, although the serving staff seemed rushed and overwhelmed at times. The resturant advertised on the hotel's website is closed (although used for breakfasts).

The front desk staff were helpful, cheerful and efficient.

“Left after the first night”

The Longfield looked liked a lovely start to our long awaited vacation in Ireland. The guy at the front desk was pleasant enough and we checked in and went up to our rooms. The rooms were dirty and quite unpleaseant. The carpet and furniture were stained, the ceiling and walls cracked. The couch was a hide-a-bed and the cusions were so old and worn that the bed rails protruded out and you could not sit on the couch. This was a non-smoking room, but there was an ash tray on the window ledge, a ledge that was rotting and had peeling paint. We found the rooms so bad that we actually moved out first thing the next morning even though we had already paid for the room, would not receive a refund, and would have to pay for three more rooms for two nights!
