I read reviews of the Paramount and was pretty concerned about the noise, but as my mom’s hard of hearing and I sleep like a dead body no matter what, I decided to go for it. I booked 2 nights in June through laterooms.com, where I got an unbelievable deal—2 nights for 183 euros total! I called ahead to ask for a quiet room, as other reviewers advised, and, accordingly, we got put way up on the 4th floor, which seemed perfect. The verdict? Well, it was NOISY, it has to be said. It was Euro2008 football time, which I’m sure made it even worse than normal, but the noise of cars and drunken revellers from the street really was very loud. (The bar the hotel’s on top of—I forget what it’s called—wasn’t really a factor though, I don’t think.) We kept the windows closed and although the noise was still totally audible, we both fell asleep easily and slept fine. I think if it had been any hotter though (it was the middle of June and probably in the 60s overnight?), we might’ve been a bit uncomfortable.
That said, however, the place is TOTALLY central! I don’t see how you could possibly desire a better location for site-seeing, eating, or drinking. It’s perfect! We were right in the middle of everything, so we were able to really maximize our time in Dublin, and the Paramount was a total pleasure to come back to. Room-wise I thought our twin was very nice. My mom was a bit tentative about the décor, which I guess you might say was a bit art deco (?), but it was certainly clean and comfortable, and a decent size. The fan in the bathroom was a bit loud and took some time to turn off after you were finished with it, so for room-sharing guests showering at different times, possibly annoying. Other than that, no complaints at all! Staff were helpful with maps, advice, baggage assistance, etc. Easy transport to airport by bus, as bus stop is right around the corner and across the bridge. The location is DEFINITELY worth the noise if you’re a heavy sleeper, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. (And check out Chez Max by Dublin Castle right around the corner—so good!)
