“Brilliant Hotel (you can get around the noise)”

Paramount Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Cornwall, England
Aug 26, 2008

We loved the Paramount, it has friendly efficient check in staff who had the fact that I had requested a quiet room by email after booking in front of them and so gave us room 316, although you do forfeit any views from this room as it overlooks the back yard area you can have the window open and all the city noises are muted as is any noise from the nightclub below, only very muted mind, they are still there but faint. The room and bathroom very clean, the bed massive (you could put a child in between a couple here and still think you had a lot of space) crisp cotton sheets, tv, coffee and tea, toiletries etc. The bathroom has a hot rail for towels, the pipes to that go along the bath which means the bath is warm underneath, not actually necessary in August but lovely when it is cooler I would think. The location is perfect and if you go to bed early and want some peace, this may not be for you but if you get back around or after midnight and sleep well, you couldn't find better for the price, we paid less than £80.00 for this room and would definitely stay again. This didn't include breakfast but there are lots of places nearby.

“Fantastic, VFM!!”

Paramount Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Hull, England

The paramount was by all means not the cheapest hotel offered to us on hotels.com, but we did get it pretty cheap. We where worried that the hotel would be at best bearable, but we were promised a good location at least!

We arrived in Dublin on the Dart (bus service) from the airport, the hotel was easy to find and upon checking in we where suprised on how 'posh' the hotel looked! (for the price) The room was very clean and the bed was very comfy, the bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful!

The hotel was situated two minutes from the temple area of the city, and less than a minute from Bono's hotel, The Clarence, which is availible for meals and drinks.

Checking in and out was easy, with no hassle, it was not the quietest hotel, but given the location what can you expect!

We would recommend this hotel and we would go again tomorrow!

“Truly fabulous location, clean comfy rooms, expectedly noisy!”

Paramount Hotel

4 of 5 stars
York, U.K.
Jul 29, 2008

I read reviews of the Paramount and was pretty concerned about the noise, but as my mom’s hard of hearing and I sleep like a dead body no matter what, I decided to go for it. I booked 2 nights in June through laterooms.com, where I got an unbelievable deal—2 nights for 183 euros total! I called ahead to ask for a quiet room, as other reviewers advised, and, accordingly, we got put way up on the 4th floor, which seemed perfect. The verdict? Well, it was NOISY, it has to be said. It was Euro2008 football time, which I’m sure made it even worse than normal, but the noise of cars and drunken revellers from the street really was very loud. (The bar the hotel’s on top of—I forget what it’s called—wasn’t really a factor though, I don’t think.) We kept the windows closed and although the noise was still totally audible, we both fell asleep easily and slept fine. I think if it had been any hotter though (it was the middle of June and probably in the 60s overnight?), we might’ve been a bit uncomfortable.

That said, however, the place is TOTALLY central! I don’t see how you could possibly desire a better location for site-seeing, eating, or drinking. It’s perfect! We were right in the middle of everything, so we were able to really maximize our time in Dublin, and the Paramount was a total pleasure to come back to. Room-wise I thought our twin was very nice. My mom was a bit tentative about the décor, which I guess you might say was a bit art deco (?), but it was certainly clean and comfortable, and a decent size. The fan in the bathroom was a bit loud and took some time to turn off after you were finished with it, so for room-sharing guests showering at different times, possibly annoying. Other than that, no complaints at all! Staff were helpful with maps, advice, baggage assistance, etc. Easy transport to airport by bus, as bus stop is right around the corner and across the bridge. The location is DEFINITELY worth the noise if you’re a heavy sleeper, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. (And check out Chez Max by Dublin Castle right around the corner—so good!)

“Great experience”

Paramount Hotel

4 of 5 stars
San Carlos, CA
Jul 12, 2008

We stayed at The Paramount for two nights in June '08 and have a fantastic experience. First of all, the hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to most everything we wanted to see. Our room on the 4th (top) floor was clean and nicely decorated. The hotel itself is old, but the decoration was modern. We had a triple room to accommodate our 9 year old son - we felt welcome as a family.

I did not experience a problem with noise. At one point I woke around midnight and could faintly hear the baseline of the bar music, but it was not enough to keep me awake. If you're sensitive to noise, try to get a room on the 4th floor.

Finally, the breakfast was excellent and the staff was helpful.

“Quite a nice stay at the Paramount”

Paramount Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Washington, DC
Jul 8, 2008

This hotel is perfectly situated for a weekend in Dublin - especially if pub activity is on the agenda (and how could it not be while in this city!). It is on the edge of Temple Bar which is a lively area full of restaurants and bars. The Paramount is also convenient to the city's sights - either by foot or the hop-on bus tours.

The rooms are standard European compact but clean and nicely decorated with a modern vibe. The front desk staff was very pleasant.

I was a little leery of the noise issue when arriving at the Paramount - upon checking in, I requested a room as quiet as possible. Due to the hotel's capacity, they only could give us a room on the 2nd floor facing the courtyard (the original room was on the first floor) - not much of a view but it was fairly quiet. You could hear the bass from the Turk's Head bar at night for a time but earplugs (and a few Guinnesses) were generally adequate for a good night's sleep.
