Three friends (including two from the USA) and I stayed at the Mount Royd for one night while on a tour of Derry and Inishowen. It was a memorable experience - the best guest house / B&B experience we have ever had. Mount Royd is a beautiful subsatantial house. The very comfortable en-suite bedrooms are beautifully decorated and overlook attractive gardens and/or patio areas with a small flock of Jacob sheep at the back. Few hotels could compete with the quality and variety of the breakfasts. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful in an unobtrusive way. There are many "extras" - a cup of tea on arrival, access to a comfortable sitting room that incudes a lot of guides and books of local interest and access to a water cooler in the dining room. In short, an outstanding guest house and an ideal base for visiting Inishowen and Derry.
