Garnish Island in Glengarriff in west cork is a gorgeous place. We took the Blue Pool ferry there from glengarriff and really loved the amazing views and magical gardens on the island. It's well worth the trip. You can stay in glengarriff, the area is beautiful and people are very friendly, however, there isn't really much else to do in town aside from take nice walks. The accomodations and food/pubs are pretty basic( but welcoming). Eccles hotel looked nice and had a nice veiw of the bay from their front porch, but we didn't stay there.
