We stayed at the Queens the second week of February 2006. The rate included breakfast which was good, and 1 evenings dinner, either in their restaurant or in Cruises, a pub next door. It is not the Ritz Carlton but for the price a good value.
First the problems
The rooms faced the street and at quitting time for the bars it was noisy. This will be a problem in any hotel located in a city center anywhere in Ireland.
This was about 2AM. The cure for this is either be part of the noise or party and sleep well.
Parking
Ask for a voucher to place on your dashboard to allow free parking from 9 - 12 in the public lot. The hotel has no parking. They only allow 3 hours of parking so you have to feed the meter, I would move and repark, as the meter person seemed very efficient. This should really be a problem on your first day when you want to sleep. Same problem with all center city hotels though.
The Good Stuff
The staff was helpful and polite
The food at Cruises was good and the service was wonderful. Great music, peat fires, good atmosphere. One of the best places for this and I have been to Ireland a couple of dozen times.
Central in Ennis for shopping, pub hopping
Bathrooms were good, plenty of towels. Your shampoo will be on the wall in a dispenser of the shower which was clean and had plenty of hot water.
I Have stayed at the "better hotels" in Ennis. They are nice but cost at least 100 USD more a night for pretty much the same thing.
I would stay on my next trip.
