“do not book a chalet !!!!”

Craig Tara

Aug 27, 2008

this holiday was so disappointing. the "chalet" was a run down block of a biulding and we were moved three times. chalet no 1 had holes in the walls, the smell was disgusting, carpets filthy, curtains not hanging correctly and electrical lights were a haelth and safety hazard. chalet no2 stunk of urine, carpets again filthy, needs knocking down. woke up early hours of the morning to find brown urine coming from under the toilet, reported it the next day. waited till half four and still noone came. with two young children not very good !! insisted to be moved. finally they give us keys to an apartment. front door had been boarded up !!!! started to move our belongings in and somoeone else had been given the keys to it. in the end we has a two birth standard caravan. clean !!! place dirty... food ok...never ever go again

“World's Largest Toilet ?”

Boy, have I got a holiday for you...

Fun...romance...action...adventure...laughter...tears...chips and curry sauce...a bag o'crisps...brightly coloured scrunchies...teflon tracksuits...hooded tops...cheap gold with one's name on...oversized berghaus jackets... socks over trackies...sweeties..mindless violence and vomit.

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the beauty and splendour blended together that is Craig Tara in Ayr. An unforgettable family holiday experience. ...

The good people at Haven have created what may be the largest toilet in the world. At 2,100 square feet, the attractive parkland contains more than 1,000 toilets resembling caravans. Very clever indeed.

Most of the staff wear baseball caps to hide their frontal lobotomy scars and and have all the enthusiasm of a Tesco bag. Several more advanced staff members have been known to walk reliably on two legs.

On a more positive note The FunStars are full of imagination and there's always something everyone can join in with. Children need extra entertainment on holiday, and the FunStars have everything for the kiddie winkles.

It's just that I couldn't help but wonder when they would eventually malfunction like Yul Brynner in Westworld and reap havoc and terror on unsuspecting holiday makers.

Go if you like it's fun.

“Not so good”

Holiday didnt get off to the best start as when we arrived the cleaners were still in caravan and informed us they couldnt get the boiler to work. This was fixed the following day but we had to go without hotwater, heating or a shower and with a 2 year old, not so good. Also the lock on the toilet door was broke so couldnt keep door shut and it stunk of urine on the carpet. Then after doing a big shop at a local supermarket, all our fridge stuff froze as the fridge was broke and had to be thrown out. We then had to wait for a small fridge to be brung to us the next day. Then the microwave and cooker both were faulty so we had to eat out and spend a lot more than we should of on a self catering holiday. To make it worse, the customer service was terrible. When ever we told them about a problem, they never apologised. They just said someone will be here today to fix it but it was always the day later. The showers in the family changing area would also have a habbit of stop working halfway through showering. All week to were there they claimed to have had a problem with the water pressure. The entertainment was of a low standard to some of the haven sites I have been to. It wasnt a clean site either. There was human poo on the childrens play side and no one seemed bothered to tidy it up. All in all a very poor holiday for the money my dad paid for us all to go.

“Had a great time - Cheap, Clean”

Craig Tara

Aug 21, 2008

I am so glad we went and weren't put off by reviews. We had a clean, well equipped ground floor chalet. It looked like it had recently been refurbished with new kitchen and bathroom. No shower curtains but proper walk in shower with doors.

Clean, crisp sheets and pillow cases were provided. No stains or tears as discribed by others. No mould anywhere in flat. We booked for 7 days having usually gone to Haven camps via Sun newspapers, but this one was a cheap offer, we found on their website. We took 2 x14 year olds. They shared single beds in one bedroom, and we had a double bed in another room. Could also have had a couple more on sofa bed in lounge, if we wished. We had a great holiday.

We toured the area in the daytime by car, so ddn't really use all the camp facilities. Although, my husband and twin daughters had a 9 hole game of golf, which they enjoyed. There is a beach there, which we went strolling and combing on. Not as nice as some of the more local beaches I have to admit, but pleasant enough. Plenty for the girls to do, if they had wanted to join in, but they still prefer enjoy travelling with us.

Yes the chalet was basic, but it had everything we wanted and was clean and well equipped.

Food available on site, we had a meal, fish and chips and a chinese take away, but tended to eat out in the day or go into town (Ayr) for the local Tesco and bring cooked chicken or food home with us. We used the oven and microwave provided starting the day off with a cooked breakfast.

Plenty of entertainment of an evening, particularly for young families, but you do need to go early to get a seat. We didn't bother, as the seats were mainly taken by the time, we got there about 9ish. The entertainment wasn't an important factor for us. But they had a circus there entertaining, singers, comedians and, of course Rory and Bradley!

Would consider going again.
