We arrrived on Monday 7th July and booked in. We were given our keys to the 'chalet' (!) and decided to check it out. How can they call it a chalet? It was two small bedrooms with a shower room! We had travelled with my daughter and her friend and had booked it through the sun holiday scheme. We weren't expecting much, just good, clean accomodation. Our chalet stank and the mattresses were disgusting. We turned around and went straight back to the reception and waited behind a queue of disgruntled customers. I asked to be up-graded but was told that there was nothing available. We asked the kids what would they like to do, and they said they would like to stay. We decided to give it a go.
Big mistake! The park was filthy - cigarette ends piled high on bins. The special play park surface was slowly being destroyed by older children whose parents seem to spend their whole holiday propped up at the bar. We went to report the incident and 2 men came down, put some cones up on the bald patches and then disappeared! They ignored the youths walking around them with handfuls of playground surface in their hands!
Haven really need to up their game with this park or soon it will be just a place for neds and their families to stay. We spent every day out in the Ayrshire countryside visiting places and dreaded returning to campsite. The kids wouldn't go anywhere on their own at the camp as they were intimidated by the bad behaviour of the other youths.
The only bright spots of this holiday was the heads of ayr park and shopping in Ayr itself.
Never go there, no matter how good a deal you get!
