“A perfect retreat”

Claymore House Hotel

May 18, 2008

We found the Claymore by chance - but what a find. It's a lovely villa in a quiet street near Nairn beach and golf club. A private hotel - the owners and staff were very welcoming and friendly - chatting with us over a drink in the bar. The bar is lovely with a coal fire. Both the bar and restaurant had just been refurbished - smart as well as comfortable. The owners are redecorating the bedrooms and rest of the hotel too. Although we thought our room was lovely anyway - large with a lovely bay window and our en suite bathroom was huge!

The food is delicious with lots to choose from.

It's a good location. Walking distance from the beach and town centre. It seemed to be very popular with golfers and there were a lot staying when we were there.

We really loved this hotel and have booked for a longer stay next year. They've got some very good off-season rates. Good value for money.

“A perfect find - would definately stay again”

Claymore House Hotel

Aug 6, 2007

We have stayed at the Claymore this weekend, and found it to be a wonderful getaway. We asked if they would be able to prepare our room earlier than the usual 1pm check in time, which they duly did, as we had a wedding to attend just down the road and we were on a real tight timeline. The bed was spacious, the room was clean and tidy, with a great dressing table for my wife and nice bright windows. The only thing we would have changed would be the shower, which was a little small. The following morning, we found the beautiful restaurant with great breakfast options, and tea, coffee and toast on tap.

All in all, a great stay, and would definately stay there again.

What a wonderful find. My husband and I recently visited the North of Scotland for a golfing break. Nairn is a beautiful seaside town on the Moray Firth, in the Scottish Highlands. The scenary is spectacular and there are literally dozens of golf courses within an hours drive. We stayed at the Claymore House Hotel, a beautiful family run Victorian hotel with about 20 rooms. The rooms were immaculate, spacious and very clean. There is a great bar where we spent many late nights talking with the owners who were so much fun. Work up an appetite on the golf course, the food was also another major plus point. We'll definitely go back. We loved the Claymore and the Highlands, can't wait to return.
