I stayed in a one bedroom flat on the second floor in late December 2006 for about a week.
PROS:
***The flat looks just like the pictures: nice leather sofa (comfortable enough to sleep on), pretty glass dining table with leather cushioned chairs, nice soft bed, a kitchen with everything you need (I had two people staying there, and all the amneties were for two: cups, silverwear, plates, etc).
***Once you get in your room there is a hallway leading to a bathroom, your bedroom, and a bigger room with living room (with the soft sofa)/dining room and kitchen in one. In that hallway there is also your own cleaning closet with cleaning supplies if you should need them: broom, mop, ironing board, etc. There is a big flat screen tv in the living room and a smaller flat screen tv in the bedroom. There is a plastation 2 with 2 games in the living room, you can also play dvds, and cds on the play station (so bring some with you). The rooms are sound proof, so if you are making a lot of noise in the kitchen, then the person sleeping in the bedroom doesn't really hear anything as long as the doors are closed. I couldn't hear anything from the flats next to me and could turn the tv up at night or play music without disturbing people.
***The people cleaning the rooms never disturbed me, and were nice. I saw one of them in the halls and asked them for something and they brought it up to my room in a few minutes. Very nice people working there. My room was very clean when I entered it and smelled normal (not like anything at all).
***The kitchen had freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, dish detergent, dish drying rack (if you wanted to wash by hand), new sponges for cleaning, oven, stove, plenty of cabinets, and an all-in-one clothes washer and dryer (was suprised to find this at all, especially in the kitchen. It came in handy, especially for getting rid of wrinkles in my clothes the lazy way)!!!
***The size of the apartment is spacious. There are heaters everywhere for when its cold. If its hot, just open up the windows.
***The tea kettle was clean (I have stayed at so many places where you can never use the kettle once you have a look inside it. It wasn't the case here, there was a nice clean electric tea kettle and next to it lots of tea, coffee, and sugar).
***The location!!! Everything is in walking distance: clubs, bars, shops, malls, restaurants, subway, train station, main bus station. With walking to the bus station or the subway, you can get to anywhere you need to go to that is not in walking distance. You will also walk past some taxis if you need them.
CONS:
***There was no PHONE in my room!!! I had to make a lot of phone calls and wouldn't have minded paying anything extra just to have a phone in my room. I'm not sure if i was "special" and was the only person not to have phone, or if all the rooms are phone less. I have a feeling some flats did have a phone though.
There is a payphone outside the apartment, but it was broke when I was there. IT is silly not to have phone, so if you book with them, ask them if you will have a phone in your room. Otherwise make sure you have a cellphone with you. If I was going to be in Glasgow again I would still stay here again, I would just make sure to bring a cellphone. It would have just been nice to know about this wayyyyyyy ahead of time.
Here are other cons which really didn't bug me:
**If you want to complain about anything or get any help from the concierge, well there is none located in the building. You will have to walk down the road to another building (this is also what you have to do to check into your apartment and get your key). Its not far to walk to, but if your tired and its cold outside, its a pain to have to do that. On the plus side though, the people in the concierge in that other building were sooooooo sweet to me, helpful, and well mannered. If you happen to have a phone in your room, then I guess you won't have to worry about walking over and can phone them instead.
***The play station came with only 2 games and one of the games was missing from the case. Also you only get one controller, so you can't play against your mate =(. So if you have kids or adults interested in playing games, you would want to bring an extra controller and some extra games (or maybe ask for it at the lobby when checking in).
***The windows are drafty, I'm not sure they close all the way or are sealed properly. On the other hand, the heater worked great, so it wasn't a big deal, just something I noticed when standing next to the window.
****Back to the windows, they are not sound proof since they don't seal properly when they are shut. So that means that you can hear everything outside. I guess the higher up you are on the floors, the better. The sound outside didn't effect me at all, EXCEPT on SATURDAY night, I had no sleep at all. You can hear all kinds things on Saturday: with people singing, screaming, cars zooming, police sirens, but mostly just people doing silly things. Had I arrived a couple of days before and not been exhausted, I would have been lumped in with those people walking down there (maybe not making as much noise). Anyhow, there isn't really any sleeping on Saturday night, people are very very loud. Any other day, I really didn't notice noise outside. So why not trying going out on Saturday night if your in Glasgow, its fun. If not, you will probably need earplugs to fall asleep.
***some slamming doors. I could hear some slamming doors sometimes..not too much.. when I was in the hallway of my room. But not when I was in the living room with my door closed. People do not do this on purpose. It is just that doors when opened, don't close softely. So you have to make sure you mind the door when it closes so it doesn't slam. I propped open some doors with shoes, and sometimes after a while the door might slam shut. Its really not that big a deal, or that noisy. Although the hotel should put something to make the doors close quieter.

In total, I would much rather stay at the apartments, which are totally comfy and have everything I could possibly need, rather than staying at a regular hotel. You have lots of space and lots of convience. Plus everyone that works there to me was completely sweet and helpful. I also loved being able to cook whatever I wanted everyday.
