We stayed at the hotel for a celebration, as it was in a central location
for various people to travel to.
Although overall it's quite a nice hotel, with nicely appointed rooms, there
were quite a few let downs. When we arrived to check in, we were told the
room was not ready and was still being cleaned. It was 2 1/2 hours after the
noted check in time (2.00pm) before it was finally ready. This didn't affect
us too much, as others in our party had checked in the night before, so we
stayed in their room and in the lounge until ours was ready. This could be
an issue if you were hoping for a relaxing weekend getaway, as it would eat
into your Saturday significantly
Similar problems occured at check out, as there were not enough staff on
reception to handle demand, and ridiculous queues resulted. Several people
complained about this during our stay.
The food was another let down - adequate, but nothing special, especially
for the price. Very small portions, red wine served so cold that
condensation formed on the bottle, several dishes unavailable early in the
evening and so on. Breakfast was better though, if very busy.
I didn't personally use the spa/pool, but I was told it was fine.
Overall, the rooms were good, but there appear to be staffing issues
affecting check in/out, room cleaning and the restaurant. Please consider
this before booking.
