“A GEM!!! A must stay”

A must stay. The B&B is just on the borth edge of the town center...everythng in Stratford is walking distance, from Emsley its 3 minutes to Shakespeare's House and 10 minutes the RSC Theaters. Keith and Val are incredibly thoughtful and kind. Upon arrival, Keith provided a map, laid out where the B&B was; and in comparision to local restaurants and attractions. Room was lovely and comfortable. There are 5 rooms: I had the Norfolk on the 3rd level (2 rooms on the 3rd level; 3 on the 2nd level). Think the floors were a little creaky, which is to be expected in Victorian townhouses, but as I was on the top floor, I didnt notice it as much as the lower level rooms would have. Breakfast was your typical but VERY GOOD full English Breakfast. The rooms wonderful, breakfast delicious. - those alone would have made this a great place to stay..but the added value making this a superior stay was Keith and Val. I went bike riding on not a great day and Val lent me a poncho to use! They go out of their way to ensure that you are enjoying the stay, and are as helpful as possible. The rate is a steal! If you don't take advantage of this amaging stay, you are just silly!

“Take Care, Noisy Rooms Facing Street”

We loved the Emsley and our hosts. They could not have been more gracious or accommodating. We were traveling as a family of four (2 adults, 2 teens), so we were given the one room with 2 twins and 1 queen. The room was lovely and immaculately clean (allbeit at the top of a steep staircase, but we still loved the room). Breakfast was excellent. The Emlyn is also very conveniently located to walk everywhere. HOWEVER, our room faced the street, which is very busy with traffic and was very noisy all night long. A bar was also nearby, so we had to listen to drunken individuals talking on their cellphones until 2am. If you can close the windows, no problem (the glass is quite thick). However, if it is a summer evening - and the night we visited was quite warm - you'll need to open the windows. If you're remotely sensitive to noise, be sure to request a room that doesn't face the street. Enjoy your stay!

“Great hosts at the Emsley”

We booked this B&B having seen the other reviews on this website and we couldn't agree with them more - it really is excellent. From the moment we arrived our hosts, Keith and Val were extremely helpful and friendly. They carried our bags to our room, gave us leaflets and advice on all of the local attractions and even told us where the good restaurants were. Our room (The Gloucester) was extremely clean and comfortable with very soft linen on the bed. The breakfast was great and kept us full up until well after lunchtime and there was even a range of different teas to have with breakfast. It is a good location, being only 5 mins to the centre of Stratford. It also has free parking (one space outside at the front and some other spaces in a carpark/garage nearby). We'd definitely recommend it to others and stay there again.

“Wonderful house”

Gosh this place was hard to find--on a busy street finding a place to park was ugly until we found a side street close by. But once we arrived our hosts took over and frowns were erased quickly. Our car was parked our luggage carried to a large room Beds were great and linens excellent. The owners were honest about the house's quirks which was refreshing. Breakfast was lovely and the walk to town a short one. These hosts could not have been more helpful with everything--we also enjoyed talking with other guests in the living room. This is a great place and also a terrific value

“Emsley: the highlight of Stratford”

Emsley Guest House

The focus of our one-night stay in Stratford was to enjoy the play at the RST. And although "Merry Wives" was VERY good indeed, the Emsley stole the thunder. Our room (Gloucester) was spacious, beautifully decorated and very clean. The linen is worth mentioning: so soft, spotless and such nice smell! Breakfast was delicious, really good quality. But the true "gems" are the hosts: Keith and Val are so attentive and caring (without being pushy or invasive) that you really feel instantly at home. It was a wonderful one-night stay, and to be honest I wish it had been longer. Without a doubt, this was the best B&B I ever stayed.
