We stayed in this hotel in April and found it to be in an excellent location, probably one of the best in Stratford. It is right in the centre of town but not on a busy road and easy walking distance to eveything. We originally booked three nights but stayed an extra night. We stayed at the back of the hotel overlooking the lovely park (which is locked at night - so no worries about kids messing about etc). We had seen the previous reviews about not having a room at the front due to the noise of the road. On arrival we were given a choice of about three rooms but choose the newer ones at the back in the main part of the hotel - although they are modern they have been done up in keeping with age of the hotel and so the fixtures and fittings are of a high standard. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and we didn't have to wait for a table - this is prob because we went out of season. I could imagine it being a bit of a nightmare in the summer as it is a smallish room. Virtually all the staff we spoke to were polish which was fine except that sometimes I overheard other residents having to explain themselves a few times as they didn't understand. The only negative point is that on the last night we were woken up at about 2am as the hotel had a party on in the main function room which was directly below our rooms and the noise was v loud. We did complain and in the morning the hotel manager did apologise and explain that they should'nt have put us in the room that night. As such we got a full refund for that night (a few other guests who were in adjoining rooms also complained in the morning and they had their bills reduced). However despite this I would recommend this hotel, its is quaint, excellently located, clean (this rooms were spotless each time the maid had been), the breakfast was excellent and the rooms were of a high standard. The staff were helpfull and the decor of the place is very in keeping with stratford. We did have a drink in the bar once but found the prices v expensive (£4.00 for a small glass of wine) so ate out at Othellos next to the hotel which was v good.
