Yes, it's just a building, and just a crosswalk. But if you are a Beatles' fan, I don't have to tell you the thrill you get being there. I am not one to take off my shoes and walk across and take pictures and hold up traffic, but I did get a thrill seeing it. Plus, it is a nice neighborhood, and not necessarily an area of London you would visit otherwise. So if you have the time, and are inclined, definitely go and take a couple of photos....it's a trip!

If you are a Beatles fan as I am, and have been since day one (1963), the trip to Abbey Road is a must. Our first trip to London was over Christmas 2003 and we didn't want to do a Beatles tour, just wanted to see the recording studio and the ever famous crosswalk. Took the tube to the St. John's Wood station and it is about a 10 min walk from there. There were lots of people around doing the photo thing on the crosswalk, but it was great! It is quite a non-descript building yet you really felt the history there. You can write comments on the small concrete fence in front and I believe it is whitewashed over every couple of months. It is encouraged to write on and we read comments from fans from all over the world. I can imagine the thousands (millions?) of people who have posted their wonderful thoughts regarding the Beatles over the years. Just sitting there and remembering all of the great material they gave us was rather overwhelming. If I could visit London again, I would definately revisit. It is a must . Even if you were not a fan, go see it anyway. History was made there. CJ
