On arrival the hotel looked good from the outside.
When we got to our room we had one double bed for the adults and a single for the two kids and one towel for four people. We rang the reception and the said they presumed the bed was for two small children. We didn't get a room change.
The next day we went for breakfast which was fine with a good choice.
We went out and when we came back are keys were deactivated and we had to wait 20-30 mins to activate it again. By the time we got up to our room we realized the bed wasn't made and the cleaner hadn't come in.
We went down to ask what happened. The response was that it shouldn't have happened. We waited in the bar for a 1/2 hour and when we went up they left a bag of tea, coffee, sugars and two towels (which is an improvement). But still did not make beds, hover etc.

I definitely would not return to the hotel.

I have stayed in many hotels but for such an established chain, you expect that the staff and customers would be treated better. There seemed to be a massive gulf inbetween the staff and management. The staff seemed stretched and they were definately understaffed. The managers seemed to swan around the hotel and take little interest in helping some of the staff and attending to us. One of the staff members told me they had been there for 12hours with only a 5minute break - surely this is just totally unreasonable. I felt very sorry for some of the staff who tried very hard to accomidate us. However when I asked to see a manager about an issue - I had put the food bill for the restaurant on the room after being told that was ok by the waiter, but then I was then called down later that evening to pay (after I had gone to bed) but after waiting at reception to talk to a manager, noone showed up. Things need to seriously improve in my opinion.

We stayed here because we had an event at the BT Convention Centre across the road, and thought it would be easier to stay than travel home and back for work the next day. Cost £59 through the hotel website.

Check in staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable, clean and modern (with flatscreen TV). I went to the bar while waiting to meet my party, and although the staff were new and obviously still "getting to grips" with everything (I waited 10 mins for a latte because the waiter couldn't work the machine), it was friendly and pleasant.

For a budget hotel this is more than adequate and I would definitely stay again. The parking is only £5 overnight which is good considering the price of parking in Liverpool.

Downsides would be the building work nearby, we had an early start for work so it didn't matter but if you were on holiday it might be a problem. Also, the towels are ridiculously small, so it might be an idea to take your own!! (unless you are a skinny minny!)

Went to this admittedly new hotel with daughter and 2 grandsons for a weekend break. The hotel was good, if you avoided the wet paint, but there were some definite problems.
1) On the 1st day at breakfast my 5 year old grandson saw a dead daddy longlegs on the window ledge, which he covered with a leaf. On the 2nd day it was still there- not a good example of cleaning for a new hotel.

2) On the Saturday night we went into the dining room- couldn't get a bar meal as the bar was full and all the tables were taken ( no -one eating meals though). 4 tables in use in the dining room, including us but it took 30 minutes, from ordering, to get 3 soft drinks and another 15 to get our meal with no apologies for the delay. When we complained to the supervisor I was told it was the waitress's 1st shift- if that was the case why wasn't she being supervised

3) No room service but you can order meals and then go down to collect them but only restaurant meals not bar meals and the restaurant thinks all children eat fish fingers/sausages or nuggets- my grandsons would prefer pasta or lasagne.

4) If you are more than a size 10 take your own bath towel unless you are on your own as the bath towels do nothing to preserve modesty or dry much either- good for long hair but ntr much more.

I would recommend the hotel for a stag party/ hen party or 21st but not for families or couples (young or old) although it is next door to the Echo Arena
