“Great Stay!”

Ramada Jarvis Brighton

4 of 5 stars
Somerset
Jul 22, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and despite having a 'standard room' we were really impressed - everything was very clean, modern and bright.
Breakfast was lovely - we had to queue abit as the hotel was very busy but the cooked food, continental breakfast and drinks etc were great.

The hotel itself is on the seafront - about 1 mile from the main Pier. This sounds abit of a trek but it was actually a lovely walk - gives you a chance to look at the sights and visit shopping areas such as 'The Lanes' which are really good for little pubs, jewellery/gifts shops and a few good eating places.

“A good hotel, in a good position”

I had read good and bad reviews so went to the Ramada with an open mind.

The hotel receiption was a bit dark and gloomy, and the floor creaked while we walked around, so I wondered what was in store. However, the room was bright and had what you would expect for a hotel room,(TV, desk, chair, matching furniture and en-suite) but no mini bar. Our room outlook was to a side street, I am too tight to pay for a sea view!

Hotel position is good, its away from the heart of Brighton (by the Pier), but is within a 5 minute walk away. Close enough, but without the noise of hen/stag parties. Hotel is right opposite the beach.

Staff were helpful and cheerful, most were eastern european but had a good command of english.

Our break included dinner on the first night. The service and quality of the food was excellent, it came out quickly and was piping hot and tasty. Breakfast in the morning was plentyful, with tea/coffee and toast served in a timely manner. The breakfast was self serve and you could refill your plate - not good if you are watching your weight!

In total we paid £130 for 2 nights B&B plus first nights evening meal, and it was worth every penny (especially if you work out the individual cost of everything). I was aware of the £15 per night parking cost, so this was no surprise to me.

“Business hotel feeling but great location”

Ramada Jarvis Brighton

3 of 5 stars
Scotland
Jul 14, 2008

Location of the hotel on the seafront is lovely and its great to wake up to the sounds of the seagulls. You can easily walk into Brighton in about 15-20 min, the hotel is really in Hove. It's great to be on the beach so quickly.

We arrived late into the evening and our welcome was a bit unfriendly, could have been much wamer which is what you want after a long journey. Staff were much nicer in the morning though.

Our room was quite small and at the back of the hotel looking onto houses. Not a good view but we got a internet deal and did not expect a view.

Room was clean with a TV, internet access, kettle with tea and coffee. Bathroom was clean with a shower. All well presented and like a business hotel not the place to go if you want a personal touch. Comfortable bed and overall was fine.

Breakfast was buffet with tea/coffee and toast served at the table and then you helped yourself to cooked breakfast, cereal, juices, rolls, fruit and pastries. Breakfast was a bit disorganised but well meaning, juice and milk decanters didn't really work which was a bit annoying. Lots of choice to set you up for the day.

There seemed to be quite a lot of stag and hen nights but it might have been the time of year. However, there were loads of couples and families too.

We needed a hotel that would be open late at night rather than a guest house so it was fine for this purpose, we would probably go for something more personal botique hotel ish in the future

“Lovely hotel”

Ramada Jarvis Brighton

Just enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel. It is in a great position on the seafront and easy walk to everywhere in Brighton. Our room was very clean and comfortable and as we were on the 3rd floor could have the window open all the time so didnt find it too hot, the view out of the window was just the back of houses but the only noise we heard was seagulls and for the price we paid didn't expect to get a good view anyway! We found the breakfasts to be excellent with lots of choice and no problem getting tea as mentioned on another review the only people who might have done were the ones who were too impatient to wait at the door to be seated by the staff! The only complaint we had is the typical high price of drinks in the hotel bar which we would have liked to enjoy more after a night out and the £15 a night charge for the hotel carpark, otherwise a very nice hotel in a great position

Having got a great deal 2 nights room and Breakfast and dinner on first night included, was a bit concerned about the hotel..
Location. Great for expoloring bBrighton, Bus stop across the road, bars and restaurants close by.
Hotel.
Rooms lovely, clean, spacious with iron and hairdryer. Food in the hotel was of a high standard, and staff, very helpful, caring and realy pleasent to speak to.
One little negative was that the rooms were to hot in the night, even after turning dowm the thermostate.
If you are looking for a good hotel, good location you can't go wrong with the Ramada, but only on a deal.
