“Stay here, it's a really good hotel”

I booked this hotel at the Tourist Info Centre in Montreal town centre. I was really glad that I did.

The owners Shahrzad and Bernard were very welcoming from the get go and went out of their way to help make my stay there as pleasant and easy as possible by helping me to book excursions, giving lots of useful information about Montreal, places to go sightseeing, shopping etc, letting use their washer/drier facilities and going out of their way to drive me to the Metro when I first arrived.
The hotel is very clean and professional. Breakfast is available from 8 am onwards in the dining room situated downstairs. You can have cereal, croissants, muffins, toast, tea, coffee, orange juice, etc. There was plenty to choose from to fill you up before starting your day.
The hotel is situated away the city centre so it is in a quieter, less noisy location.

The transport links to the hotel were really easy.
From any subway station, take the train on the Honore-Beauregard line to the Papineau station and the bus stop is right outside the station. Then take the No 34 bus which stops right outside the hotel( the bus journey is only 4-5 mins).
There is also a taxi rank across the street beside the Metro supermarket if you would rather take a taxi.

You can purchase a 3 day ticket for $17 at any subway station, which allows you to travel as much as you want on the subway and bus.

I was a solo traveller and never had any problems taking the public transport. I went to the Montreal casino on Sat night by bus to Papineau and then subway to the Jean Drapeau station. A regular casino bus from the station takes people to the casino which is a 5 minute journey. The casino is really huge and they had live cabaret and dancers to entertain the crowds. It's worth going to see, just to experience it.
I came back at ~12.30 pm by subway to Papineau. There were still plenty of people on the subway at that time so I felt safe and once I arrived at Papineau, I caught the No. 34 bus right back to the hotel.

I would also like to mention Ronnie, who also works at the hotel. He was really friendly to everyone, full of fun and always very helpful.

The service was really good and the friendliness of Shahrzad, Bernard and Ronnie added to my enjoyment of my stay.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Montreal.

Put this lovely hotel at the top of your list!

Yes, you may find bigger, fancier, and far more expensive internationally branded hotels in Montreal... They are all there, right next to the big banks and office buildings downtown. But what you won't find in them is the kind of staff who you remember, long after you left, for all the things that they did to make your stay exceptional. You should especially meet the friendly and graceful manager Sherazade, who's hand drawn map un-erringly guided us to open parking spaces, and who's thoughtful guidance to the first time travelers was spot on the mark.

This is a great little hotel, neat and clean as a pin, welcoming to both families and romantic travelers, and certainly our first choice for a return visit.

“Clean, queit, and friendly for a very reasonable price”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 9 nights in mid-July, 2006.
Right from the first (toll free) phone call, I was impressed with the friendliness of the owners. Our plane arrived late at night, but they stayed up and waited for us. Upon arriving in Montreal, a bit later than planned, Shahrzad called me and offered to pick me and my girlfriend up from the subway station, where we were waiting for the next bus. She gave us bottled water and cookies, and showed us around. The next morning, Bernard gave us a ride downtown. Throughout our stay, they were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. No hotel could ever offer comparable service!
Our room was one of the cheaper ones, a "comfort" room, so it was small and we had to share a bathroom with a few other rooms, but we never had to wait for it. The room at least had a sink, was air-conditioned, and very clean. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, but that was the only bad part of the stay.
To get downtown by public transit requires a bus (or 10 minute walk) and a subway ride, and usually takes about 15 - 20 minutes if you know the bus schedule. However, being away from the "excitement" is a good thing when you want some peace and quiet at night. During the whole stay we never heard any noise from the street or neighboring rooms. We did not see any disreputable folk (beggers, drug addicts) mentioned by another reviewer. Though the summer fireworks can be seen from the patio, I'd recommend walking down to the river (10 minutes).
The breakfast, as others have said, is low-budget: cereal, pastries, bagels, toast, and fruit, with coffee, tea, or OJ. Not too impressive, but better than nothing. You get what you pay for.

If you're looking for luxury, you'll have to go somewhere expensive. If you want a nice place with excellent service for a very reasonable price, I highly recommend the Manoir Ville-Marie.

“What a wonderful stay!”

My boyfriend and I stayed for a weekend at this hotel from the end of Sept. to the beginning of Oct. We had the Get-Away Suite, which was absolutely spectacular. We were only a short drive from downtown, which could be problematic without a car, and could come home to our beautiful room in this charming hotel after a night of touring. The service was excellent, the room was spotless, inexpensive, and beautiful, and the entire atmosphere was romantic. We did see some of the smaller rooms, which share washrooms, and could see nothing wrong with such acommodations for the price being paid. I would highly recommend this hotel, and especially this suite, for any couple looking for a romantic and charming inn for the right price.

My family stayed for four days at this hotel in Montreal. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to offer information and advice. They certainly had more time for their guests than in many other hotels where we stayed in during our trip.
The accommodation was clean and spacious and there were some thoughtful extras such as free use of the internet to check emails.
Although the hotel is not central, we found we could travel to the city centre quite easily by bus and subway.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates courteous and friendly service.
