When we initally arrived at the hotel, we realized it wasn't in the most desirable neighborhood but the hotel itself seemed clean and interesting. HOWEVER, The first night we were there we had to walk about 30 minutes to get to the metro - not so easy in a rougher neighborhood with 5 children/6 adults. Then, the fun began. The morning after we arrived we were getting ready to drive to Old Montreal when I realized my car had been burglarized. I lost nearly 20 cds, an auto emergency kit, a first aid kit, a cell phone headset, and more. We were parked in the hotel "lot" right in front of the building. I lost at least $350 worth of personal items. It was very disturbing, especially since we were booked for another night. One of the hotel staff, a older gentleman, shrugged his shoulders when we told him about our car situation - not even an "I'm sorry" or mention of regret. Let me not forget the dead pigeon who remained right in front of the hotel for more than 24 hours. Hopefully they removed the poor bird once we told them it had been there since at least the day before.
This is not a B & B. I agree with a previous guest - more of a hostel. Continental breakfast was very poor and very little variety. Same food presented both mornings. At least 3 of the "public" toilets were not functioning properly. The one in the basement dining room overflowed, the other one would not flush and the third one on the first floor kept running. Very noisy - not at all sound proof. Also, we heard guests arriving at all hours of the night - not at all sound proof.
This was a nightmare. Would neither recommend to my best friend nor my worst enemy. Hope the crack heads enjoyed selling my personal stuff.
