“Better for Business than Tourists. - Construction noise during stay”

Hilton Toronto

The Good
Stayed there as Tourists. Our room was upgraded with modern furniture, lighting and a comfortable bed. The room was spacious with ample space for luggage and 2 people. The location was right between the Eaton Centre and the CN Tower. We walked from the Eaton Centre in less than 10 min to the hotel and took a short cab ride to the CN Tower. Probably a 15+ walk. Staff was nice and met our needs. Even brought an alarm clock to our room when one wasn't present. I enjoyed the architecture in the main lobby with the modern furniture appointments. The buffet breakfast was delicious. You can tell while we were there the attention was paid to the presentation of the food as well as the taste. Concierge was helpful and booked our bus and boat tours right there in the lobby.

The Not so Good
The hotel was retrofitting their rooms and the noise of drills and hammers did not make a comfortable stay during the day. We complained to the front desk and was given free passes to the breakfast buffet and option to move to another room. We stayed because the rooms on the higher floor wasn't updated like the room we were staying in. Plus we had a good rate and were only in town for 2 days so we dealt with it. Keep in mind it's more of a business hotel than for tourists.

“Truly accessible hotel”

Hilton Toronto

5 of 5 stars
London, ON
Jul 8, 2008

I am in a wheelchair and the downtown Toronto Hilton is far and above THE best and most accessible hotel I have ever stayed at. The roll in shower and the grab bars near the toilet are items not always found in other hotels. The lower napped rug and hardwood floors made it easy to get around. We never turned the television on during our stay because the view from our window was so beautiful. We kept saying "I want to live there !! ". I travel a lot and this has been our best hotel experience ever.

“Standard Hilton - good location and exec lounge”

Hilton Toronto

4 of 5 stars
Calgary

I have stayed at the downtown Toronto Hilton on numerous occasions and as recently as the week of June 16th. As a Hilton Gold Hhonors member, I receive an upgraded room on the executive floor and access to the executive lounge.

The room is nice enough.. a nice marble bathroom and a great view looking south from the 30th floor overlooking Lake Ontario. The front lobby is very nice and the Ruths Chris steakhouse in the basement is very tasty.

The executive lounge on the top floor is always great with a decent breakfast and evening hors doeuvres. One disappointment on this visit was their change to an honour bar system which I was told is now the case at all Hiltons in the world.

Whenever I stay in downtown Toronto this is my choice of hotels.

“Showing signs of aging....”

Hilton Toronto

3 of 5 stars
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Stayed here for two weeks in June for business.

Hotel was booked by my secretary so I don't know how reservations are but my reservation was there and check-in was quick so there were no issues there. The lobby is a little strangely laid out and not a place for people to congregate but is fine.

The room was ok. The hotel is showing signs of aging and needs an update fairly soon as it's starting to look more Hotel 6 than Hilton. The bathroom was particular dated having cracks in tiles and rust spots throughout. The room is a generous size and had quite a comfy lounger to sit and watch TV from. The typical Hilton bed is wonderful as usual.

I never went to the outdoor pool but on the days it was hot it appeared packed from my window. This means it's either too small or very nice. The gym is cramped with old equipment and not sufficient for a hotel of this size/quality. It seems like an afterthought that is in a converted storage room.

I went for breakfast a couple of the mornings and it was quite good with many choices and a neat idea of displaying nutritional information of each choice. being used to Europe and Asia, I did find it quite pricey however. The room service was also decent on the two occasions I tried it.

Location wise was ok. It is on the northern edge of the financial district which was convenient for work, but I would have rather stayed somewhere equidistant to my work in the direction of the water, (i.e. York).

Next time I'm summoned to Toronto for work I will probably request for a different hotel just because I assume that there is better value in some of the other places around.

“Not worth the money!”

Hilton Toronto

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of the Norther Ink Exposure tattoo convention, and I don't have many good to say about this property other than it was close to where I needed to be. The convention centre was FREEZING cold - apparently management had decided the tattoo machines were emitting CO2... and cranked the air up to an untolerable level in the convention centre. The food down there was a rip off as well - $4 for a slice of very unfresh pizza and $7 for a drink. By mid day the bathrooms were in horrible condition; over the 3 days we never saw anyone come through to clean during the convention hours. The rooms were clean, but nothing fancy. The bathrom and carpets were very dated. The views of University Ave. and the office towers downtown were beautiful. We ate at Barristers, the bar & grill in the lobby - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The bartender was SO rude; we stood there for 20 minutes waiting to be served while he puttered around organizing the bar. When we asked for take out food - which we had seen several ppl with around the hotel - he advised me there was no take out available at that restaurant. When I advised him I had seen ppl eating it in the lobby, he rolled his eyes and handed me a menu. We paid $46 for two burgers with fries - no drinks.. which were raw. I had eaten almost half of mine before I realized the funny taste was bleeding beef, not the sauce. I've never been so sick in my life as I was that night. When we took the burgers back to the bar, they recooked them, and put them back in the same take out containers as the raw meat - they didn't even replace the fries we had eaten. The burger 2nd time around was burned and hard enough we could've used it as a hockey puck. Parking is also bad here; you have to park at a public garage attached to the hotel, under an office tower, so finding space mid day Mon-Fri is almost impossible. I had to sit in my truck for about 40 mins before someone came down and left, and I took their spot. Parking is also $24 a day (up to 6 PM) and another $6 if you stay over night, so basically $30 to park. On the whole, I would stay at the Delta or Royal York any day! I DEFINATELY won't be back here!
