We stayed at this hotel two years ago during our first trip to Canada. We toured around Ontario and every time we got back to Toronto, we went back to HIE, since we had liked it so much in the beginning of the holiday. So now in July on our second trip to Canada, HIE was the obvious choise during our four nights in Toronto.
The value is very good, especially having the breakfast included in the room price. Now with the hot food added to the breakfast buffet, there is a lot to choose from. In many other hotels the room prices are more expensive and yet one has to pay extra for breakfast that could be 10-15 CAD pp. The location is excellent too. St. Lawrence market and the lovely Front Street, and Eaton Centre are very close. Also within walking distance are Harbour front, Distillery District, Hockey Hall of Fame, Air Canada Centre, CN Tower and Roger's Centre. We found it safe to walk even after 10 PM from Roger's Centre (after watching a Blue Jays game) back to the hotel. St. James Park across Adelaide Street is nice with lots of people walking their dogs. Also I thought that the current building of new Condos across Jarvis will make the area even nicer on that side once finished.
The staff is always polite and friendly and ready to help you. We checked in earlier than the normal time, no problem. On the departure day we asked, if we could check out late, since our flight wasn't until late afternoon. This was no problem and there was no extra charge.
All in all, a very nice experience again.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for the first three nights of our vacation. Having stayed in HIE before we knew what to expect & got it!. The room was ok, but not 100% clean, & unfortunately overlooked Jarvis Street where the salvation army hostel was & also a huge building site which was noisy. The breakfast was good, plastic plates & cutlery aside, but was hectic. It was within walking distance of the CN tower, the Eaton centre & harbourside. We ate in the 360* restaurant up the CN tower & the food & service was excellent, not to mention the view & would recommend it. The Toronto islands boat trip is also worth a mention, for a relaxing hour away. Toronto itself is a great city, clean, friendly & safe.

We stayed one night at the hotel. This was my first time at this location. It was clean, the employees nice and breakfast was better then I expected. I found the bed kind of on the hard side but still I had a good sleep.
If you take the airporter bus from the toronto international airport to the Sheridan Center it is about a 10 - 15 min walk to this hotel. About 7 dollars to taxi down to Front Street for the Air Canada Centre or Rodger's skydome, CN tower.
Received my wake call on time and check out was a breeze. The breakfast had eggs and bacon along with the fruit, toast, bagels, etc. I will stay here the next time I am in Toronto.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 4 nights. Found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well maintained, and I had the best sleep I've had in a long time with the comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast bar was basic breakfast fare with hot and cold items and there was lots of it. Also staff were deligent in restocking items and were friendly. The location was great being a short walk from most attractions. I like to walk so I appreciated the exercise. Even if I had to get a taxi to the Metro Convention Centre it only cost $6 or $7 for the fare one way. For the money we paid it was good value. It wasn't the Sheraton but it also didn't have the Sheraton room rate either. I'd definitely stay there again.
