My husband, 15 month old, and I stayed at the Fairmont while attending the conference. It couldn't have been a more convenient location -- right across the street from Union Station, within very close proximity to the CN Tower and countless restaurants, shops, and banks.
We got a deal through Expedia that gave us a cheaper rate than the conference room rate and upgraded us to the concierge Gold floor. We weren't familiar with the perks of the concierge level but since it was cheaper, we went for it and couldn't have been happier. You have express check-in/out, concierge just for the floor, turn-down service with 2 free bottles of water every night. Free hors d'oevres just for Gold floor residents every evening from 5-7pm (and they were very fancy - lemongrass shrimp skewers, asparagus wrapped with roast beef). This actually took the place of dinner twice so it saved quite a bit of money. There was a deluxe breakfast buffet as well with all kinds of fresh cut fruit (even lychee), fancy omelets that changed every day, various pastries, breads, cheeses, a few types of fish. This was the fanciest hotel inclusive buffet I had ever had. All food was served on nice china. In other words, the food is a very nice perk.
The room was nicely furnished and I also liked the toiletries (imported from Slovakia). The hotel embodied class. However, the one complaint is that being a historic hotel, the walls were extremely thin and I could hear sounds very clearly on both sides of our room (even someone coughing). We felt that the pros definitely outweighed the cons at this hotel.
