“Not worth an upgrade, but OK overall”

When travelling with my mum, I decided to upgrade to a superior room on the 14th floor, a 'closed-style' suite, which had separate bedroom and living areas.

The presentation of the hotel is great - the lobby is very open and looks modern, the breakfast and restaurant area is pleasant, with windows overlooking the street.
Staff are attentive and very polite, and many took the time to talk at length with us about our trip... the food is also very good.

However, for the extra money I paid, I expected alot more.
The room was very small, with a weird dark corridor between the bedroom and living area. The decor was modern, but a little cheap and sometimes scruffy. Wall papering and easy-chairs could be nominated for a length of service award!

It was a good hotel, but I wish I hadn't upgraded. I should have also booked through a discount website. The most expensive hotel of our trip, but not the best.

“Comfortable 2- night stay”

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Delta Vancouver Suites after reading reviews on TA. At first we had a little trouble finding the parking entrance to the hotel. We saw the building (located on a slightly busy, one-way street) and passed the small sign for valet parking.
Once inside, check-in was easy, staff was very friendly, esp. the valet attendants. We actually upgraded our room (23rd floor) which included free internet access, 24 hr access to a lounge w/ free beverages (bottled water, juice, soda - so we didn't have to use the costly minibar), free breakfast til 10:30am (fruit, pastries, eggs, coffee/cappucino, etc.), and evening appetizers/drinks (which we didn't take advantage of). Room was clean, about average size, w/ a separate sitting area w/ a desk and TV. The bedroom had a flat screen TV, w/ heavy curtains (for those who like to sleep in!), though walls were pretty thin and can hear people passing through the hallway, bed and pillows were also very comfortable.

The location of the hotel was good. Short drive to Robson St (great for people watching, shopping & eating!), Granville Island (nice market w/ lots of food choices - try the Buffalo Pepperoni, sooo good and this is coming from someone who isn't much of a meat person, also had good bread, fruit, etc!!) Stanley Park (we brought our food here, but was a little cold/cloudy when we went, huge park!), Grouse Mountain (did the 8 minute ride to the top - NICE views!) and Capilano Suspension Bridge (a little farther, also nice views). Room service was a bit pricey ($8 USD for a smaaall slice of chocolate cake, plus $4 service charge). We stayed in most nights and watched a couple movies ($13.99 each!)

Overall a comfortable stay, would stay here again.

“Good Hotel”

I got this hotel on Priceline for $144/night (Prices were higher due to the Vancouver International Marathon being in town). This hotel has a very good location, it's a very short walk to Waterfront station which hooks you into the West Coast Express/Sea Bus/SkyTrain etc. I personally came in by train, so I was able to take the SkyTrain from Pacific Central station to the hotel for $2.50.

Checkin was very good, staff were very friendly and polite. I was offered an upgrade for $30/night, but declined it and still ended up with a very nice room. I'm not sure I would call it a suite, it's not significantly bigger than your average hotel room, just has a separate room with a bed/tv and a livingroom. Since I was traveling alone, the size of the room wasn't a big deal anyways. The house keeping staff was good, got a free paper in the morning hanging on the door.

Overall I would stay again, but I still have a preference for the Hyatt (the only other Vancouver hotel I've stayed in).

“Good Place to Stay”

Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for one night and it was a great place to stay. It was right downtown within walking distance to interesting sights, restaurants and the water. It was close to the main office for the Big Bus Tour company in case you're looking for a great way to see the city. It also felt really safe to be walking around there alone.

The only reason I've given this hotel an average rating is because I didn't try the restuarant or the other hotel amenities.

The room was nicely laid out, the bed was very comfortable, nice robe and toiletries in the bathroom. The room was clean and quiet and the newspaper was outside my door in the morning. It was exactly what I was looking for and I would definitely stay there again.

“Great Room!”

Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel

We booked this hotel via Hotwire and got an incredible deal. We were given a "basic" room on the 6th floor, but they offered us an upgrade to a higher floor with free internet for $30 more per night (we declined that).

We were very pleased when we walked into our corner room which had plenty of windows and two distinct rooms for living room and bed room. The living area had a desk, chair, couch, coffee table, and television. The bedroom had a queen sized bed, closet, and television. The bathroom was clean and a good size.

The room had a stocked minibar and snacks in the room. However, the prices for these items was outrageous. Additionally, they have room service available and the prices for this were way too high, so we never used it. Also, internet was not free -- $10 per day.

We had rented a car to drive up to Vancouver and found that we did not need it at all while in the city. So, we parked in a deck that is adjacent to the hotel. The cost was about $20 per day and had no in/out priveleges. This was fine with us, as we walked or took public transportation everywhere. But the hotel does have valet for $26 per day with in/out.

Overall, we were very very pleased, especially considering the great price we got.
