Villa Del Palmar Flamingos has a fabulous multi-level pool. The view of the bay is incredible. However, it is in a remote section of Nuevo Vallarta. The weather the week of June 7th to June 14th was absolutely awful...and because VDPF is so far from downtown Puerto Vallarta, there was not much to do. We were constantly harassed by beach vendors and there is a steady churn of people pitching timeshares everywhere. Be very careful to get everything in writing, VDPF kept changing our room charges EVERY DAY up until check out.

Our kids really liked the activities like painting, Fiesta night and the water/sand volleyball. Rooms are beautiful, restaurant and poolside service was better than expected.

Highly recommend Tatewari spa, the couples spa rooms are gorgeous.

“Very Nice Resort, Beach not so nice”

Villa del Palmar Flamingos

Jun 14, 2008

We got back Thursday and we had a great time. The weather could of been better but not the resorts fault.
The resort is a 15 minute cab drive away from the main attractions. We never took a bus because we didn't want to. This resort is away from everything. It is nice unless you are wanting to be in crowds. The resort was not over crowded and we never had any problems finding a chair by the pool/beach The one bedroom suite is very nice The all inclusive is nice but you have to sign a ticket everyt single time you get a drink/food. We also paid for a ocean front room which we did not have. The palm trees blocked the beach. We didn't complain because the beach was not so pretty. If you want the pretty blue water don't go here. Plus there were several jelly fish on the beach and you had to watch where you walked. A 10 year old picked one up and got stung.
The rooms are very clean but don't leave any food/drinks/dishes out on the kitchen counter. If so make sure you rinse then very well. Every moring we had a few ants in the sink. I made sure all the dished were done and put away, but there were still ants first thing in the morning. Never throughout the day or night.
TIME SHARE PEOPLE SUCK! Right when we got off the plane we were hit with the sales pitch.
It doesn't stop there. The next morning a nice lady phones us and invited us to come visit with her so she could tell us where to go to do tours,. and explain where the spa, pool, etc was at in the resort. We thought that was nice so we went to see her. Yeah right. She shows us a map of the resort and what is close by etc. Then started in about a gold card etc. Another sales pitch. No way we were done with her.
We visited with several couples at the resort and some had did the breakfast and listened to sales pitch. Unless you need money really bad then go for it. If you want to get discounts on things then go for it. If you are like us and time is important. then don't do it. They tell you it will last an hour and half. Nope if last for about 4 hours. You won't get your free stuff until the end of the tour with them. These people are everywhere. PV they will try to sell you a time share at the restaurants. They will act like a host and say hey what are you going to do on your trip? Dolphins, jungle tours, etc. Its the same thing.
The one way you can get them to leave you alone is to lie. Tell them you already have a time share. Or better one is tell them your vacation is over first thing in the morning you are flying out. to go home.
The other thing is the La Casona Restaurant was nice and good food but count on being there for at least a couple of hours. Even if there is only you and 4 other couples. That happened the first night there because our flight was in late and we were hungry. There was us and only 4 other tables. It took 2 hours to get our meal and our check. When they say Mexican time they mean slow time. VERY SLOW. The snack bar is also on Mexican time but they are fast and very good food.
ALL the staff that we dealt with were super great.
The Spa is WONDERFUL. GREAT FACIALS AND MUD WRAPS.
I know that we will not go back to PV because of the ocean. The water was not so great. My husband is a big time Scuba Lover and he couldn't go because they said the water was really cloudy this time of the year. 4 different companies that we talked to there said the same thing. So he did the zip cord through the jungle. WOW. great fun. (I didn't do it, because we were told by the nice lady that called us the first day, that you had to be 8 or older.) Our daughter is 7 and after it was to late, we found out she could of done it. Anyway they have nice things to do while you wait for your spouse, etc. We got to feed and play with baby monkies, you can hold a huge snake around your neck, or you can let a spider crawl on your face or even in your mouth. MMMHHH great time. (It was fun.) We didnt' do the spider thing but we saw a girl do it. NO THANKS.
Swimming with the dolphins is really fun to.

“A Little Slice of Heaven”

Villa del Palmar Flamingos

5 of 5 stars
Knoxville, Tennessee

My friends and I stayed at Flamingos to celebrate our college graduation. I had never been to Mexico, and I have to say it was the perfect introduction to the Country.
We booked through Orbitz and and arranged our shuttle transportation to and from the airport through them as well. This was very helpful considering the amount of timeshare people waiting to snag you at the airport. When we arrived at the resort, check-in went smoothly and the week in heaven began.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon and that night the resort was having their Mexican Fiesta. We opted for the All-Inclusive, being that we were on a budget. The Fiesta was included in that and was the perfect beginning to our week. There was a huge buffet and entertaining show. The shows were not Broadway quality of course, but I was pleased.
As for the grounds, amazing is the only word to describe them. It was like living in an island paradise. The pool was perfect, large and spacious, and never crowded. We never had a problem finding chairs.
The food was satisfactory as well. We ate all meals at the resort except for the one night we traveled into town, and were very pleased with the qualitly of food and service. I have read several other reviews which complained about slow service. However, we sat outside every meal but one, and overlooked the ocean each one of those. If you have that atmosphere, why care how long it takes to have dinner?? That is part of being on vacation. Being able to sit down and enjoy your dinner and the ambience rather than worrying about rushing or having to be somewhere.
We thought the service was great. Especially when you make friends with the servers. We had one server who stayed with us all week (Carlos). He was great! Very friendly and attentive, and he would find us everyday and even called us by name. The one day he was off, he made sure Tino was there to take care of us. Tino was awesome as well.
As for activities, I myself did not use any of the water sport options, but did partake in the pool activities. These were put on by the activities group and made the week worth while. My friend and I played water polo several days. These activities also gave us ample opportunities to meet other people staying in the resort as well as the activities staff. These guys are very friendly and hillarious as well. Hugo was our favorite! We even took dance lessons from him as well.
The one night we did leave the resort, we went into PV. We shopped around then had dinner at Pipi's. It was great. Huge portions and very strong drinks. Then ended the night at Senor Frogs which was great fun.
Overall, it was the best trip of my life. I recommend it to anyone

“Better than Puerto Vallarta”

Villa del Palmar Flamingos

4 of 5 stars
Seattle, Washington

We were unsure when we booked due to the fact that it was not "in" Puerto Vallarta, but we were more than happy with our choice. Close enough to Puerto Vallarta to go for a day trip or night out (we never had a problem getting a taxi, even at 3am), but the beach was better, sandy and perfect for swimming and playing in the waves or lounging on the beach. (Puerto Vallarta's beaches were rocky.) The town within walking distance is cute and has an authentic feel. The people there really nice and there are bars to hang out in. Our favorite was a wine bar we stumbled across. It's also easy to take a bus to sayulita which was a cute surfer town with big waves. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful, fun, had good food and an absolutely perfect beach. The first night we arrived they had live music in the bar on the beach next to the hot tub with a fire in the center overlooking the ocean. It was a really nice start to the vacation. The hotel also had some body boards that they just let us use when we wanted to play in the ocean. It also has a mini market where you can buy groceries (our room had a kitchen), use the ATM, or buy souvenires. Overall a good choice.

nice hotel, nice pool, nice beach.
its far from everything its actually the last resort of the area thats good for the not crouded beach but not good because the taxi caps will charge you more because the distance to everything.
i booked on travelocity with a cheap rate and everything looks good until i saw the room, all rooms at this hotel are doubles 2 separatlely rooms you share entrance door and balcony we had the small one wich dont have kitchen or fridge, there was a family in the other room so we were sharing balcony as well as everything in it like chairs, table, etc, we asked for and upgrade but it was $150 extra for night, expensive for me, staff is really nice they help you as much as they can.
