We stayed at EDSS for seven nights June 25 to July 2. Had private transfer , it took about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the resort.Couldnt get into room tell 3pm.We had room 1701, it was a ground floor grden view. Excellent room. Halfway between beach and restaurants. We compared it to the premium suite and if your going to "stay in your room" the whole time it was nice but our room was just as nice.Except we didnt have the private pool nor the outside shower. The restaurants were very good.Service was great. The best one was the Italian one and the mexican.Vida was really good for breakfast.During our stay the dress code had been lifted for the men. Made it more relaxing towards the end of our vacation. The beach was nice. Chairs and beach beds werent so nice. Not enough of either for everyone on the beach. GET OUT EARLY FOR EITHER ONE YOU WANT. People reserve beds and chairs and dont use them.FRUSTRATING!!!!!! Beach was clean but the nicer sand was south of the resort.(past the sand bags) Snorkeling was good but really wavey. We felt it was a very clean resort with friendly and courteous staff. The concierge was exceptional. Please take advantage of their service if you need anything or have an issue or problem. They are prompt to fix the problem. We took 2 day trips. One to Xel-ha and the other we went on our own to the town of Akumal. Xel-ha was a great place to snorkel and see the underground rivers. Akumal is a must go to see place. It is a public beach with a couple of restaurants. The snorkeling there was AWESOME!!!!!! They have a gorgeous reef with lots of things to see and the best part is that the seaturtles are there. You can swim with them. Lots of them. But dont touch them because they are protected sealife. Overall a very nice place. A little pricey but if you want to splurge it was worth it. Any questions please feel free to contact me. one more thing to add about the resort. Take advantage of the "time share presentation". They were not pushy and we received a $250 credit towards our room charges. Very well worth sitting in on that for a couple of hours. Its not a bad deal but it wasnt for us.

This was the most wonderful place ever for our honeymoon!!! We actually are already making plans to go back. Everything from the room, service, food, beach, everything was top notch. We honestly could not have asked for a better place for our honeymoon. Words do not even express how much we love this place. The maid staff took special care to our room with an unlimited amount of water and we even got cute towel figurines on our bed!! Everywhere we went we were waited on hand & foot. Our waiters at each restaurant were very attentive and the food was out of this world. Honestly you do not need to look anywhere else for the perfect quiet, relaxing, fun, & pampered place for a vacation. There were also nightly shows that were fantastic!!! We both HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

P.S. Bring water shoes as there are some rocks on the ocean floor.

We booked our honeymoon through First Choice and the only part of our amazing holiday I would have a grumble about was the flight - The legroom was not at all what we where expecting, there was not much room so I would highly recommend either booking extra leg room or upgrading to the premium although in fairness Premium didn’t look that much better. For non frequent flyers I would suggest bringing anything and everything that would make you journey more comfortable, I wish we had bought our blow up pillow as these are not supplied and we both purchased a travel pack on board which I believe cost around £10 mainly for the blanket as I was freezing throughout the whole flight.
We arrived at the hotel after a long journey and where given a cold flannel and glass of sparkling wine – we arrived at around 5pm and our room was ready - 3615 – beautiful, massive, clean and the view over the pool was very welcome. As we where exhausted we unpacked and ordered some room service which came in about 10 minutes and was lovely I had a ceasor salad and a fruit plate and my husband had a BLT and fries, we where both pleased although I have to say I think the fruit plate could have been fresher as it did seem a little dry. We awoke the next morning at about 4am and so excited to see our hotel grounds we dressed and went walkabout – the whole hotel is very nicely lit and it was a lovely stroll although it was pitch black – we sat on a beach bed and listened to the waves – we did see a few people putting towels on beds but to be honest it was what we expected.
We had breakfast delivered for the first few days of our honeymoon as we didn’t think it could get much better – how wrong we where??? All the food is amazing and for an all inclusive hotel 5* or not you do expect to have a few dodgy experiences but I have to say apart from the Mexican which was very nice but VERY HOT HOT HOT we enjoyed all of the restaurants favoring the international, the grill and the Asian – Fantastic. The drinks where a plenty and all premium spirits, so many cocktails and shots you don’t know where to begin but I defiantly had a good go – I personally favored the daiquiris EXCEPTIONAL! All the staff are so friendly and we never passed one member without a friendly word.
We loved the pool beds as my husband is very fair skinned and burns easily and as some of the pool beds are under cover it fitted us fine. I have to say I was so surprised about the shade they offer - I have never seen another hotel like it, don’t get me wrong you could sun worship all day which I did many day but you can also find a beautiful spot with shade just as easily. The entertainment staff are great although we didn’t really go for that kind of holiday I can appreciate the effort they put into there work and whenever we saw them they where so friendly especially Marco (great fun) but if we didn’t want to join they would happily leave you to yourself not pushing you to join in like some hotels.
We had a wonderful massage on the beach and went on a few of the day trips – I would like to say I found the Premium dolphin experience a complete waste of money and really quite upsetting it feels like its all about Money as all you do is pose, pose, pose for pictures to purchase at the end but don’t really have much play time with the beautiful creatures.
We went to Xel-Ha I say to everyone to go as its such a fun day – lots of walking but so much to do but as other have said you need the whole day so don’t do a half day trip.
All in all we will defiantly return which is really not my usual thing but it was such a special place and since we don’t have any children as yet we want to fit as many of these holidays in we can. Go you 100% won’t regret it.

Excellent hotel. There were things i didn't like however you need to look at the bigger picture, there are no kids, its quiet, there are only 250 rooms and the food is not buffet. This alone makes it ideal to me.

Compare this to the other larger hotels, Barcelo for example has around 2000 rooms. If you want quietness Barcelo type resorts aren't the place to be.

Many people complain on here about the fact that you are crammed in etc, the beach is pretty tight on space however we never failed to get a sunlounger/shade/towells which are problems reccuring for other people. In fact even arriving at the beach at 11.30am there were still plenty.

Generally some people are sad anyway, who stays in the hotel for 2 weeks anyway? Hire a car and go out.
