“Another great vacation”

We went to Desire-Cabo, June 26th to July 1st, 2008. It was an uneventful trip on American Airline. Everything was running on time and got to Cabo as scheduled.

Got past the time share people and found our shuttle van. We had to wait about 15-20minutes before the van left. However we were the first stop, which was good.

We walked into the lobby; the staff had the cool wash cloth and a glass of champagne for us. The front desk staff was polite and easy to work with. We wanted the room we had last year. However, it was already taken, so they were able to put us in the room next to it. Room 123 is between the bar and the pool, so it was perfect location for us.

Our room was not ready when we checked in. So, we went to get something to eat at the pool bar and have a few drinks. We met some of the people from the June Yahoo group. This was really nice to only be there for a few minutes, and people already know who you are. After visiting for a little while our room was ready.

The room was clean and cool. Everything was working and had plenty of towels. The only issue was that our mini-bar was not stocked the first day. We never did call the front desk to have this resolved. However, this was the only time that it happened. The rest of our stay the mini bar always had water, soda, and beer.

We finally get out to the pool and start meeting people. Again it really helped out signing up on the Yahoo group. It was great to start talking to people as soon as we got into the pool. Like always, with a lack of sleep, and a little too much alcohol I had to take a little nap. The wife kept going for a few more hours, and then it was her turn to take a nap. After we both got a little rested, we hit the hot tub at about 1:30am. Nice crowd there. However, the water was a little too hot for our liking.

The next day we were already to get started again. Breakfast was good. However, it seemed like it was the same thing every morning. The bartenders at the pool did an amazing job. No matter what day it was or who was bartending the drinks were always good.

The staff from the grounds workers all the way to the entertainment staff did a great job. Everyone was friendly and polite. Even the guys making pizza and sandwiches at three in the morning were friendly.

The entertainment staff did a good job getting people involved. The contests in the evening were fun. The theme nights and the disco always seemed to have a good turn out. We enjoyed the different themes this year!

A few things that we did find disappointing this year: We thought the food was not as good as it was last year. It was good, but not as good as last year. We would like to have more Mexican food offered. Also the hot tub was way too hot. Only one night could we stay in it more than a few minutes. Around the pool during the day, would like to hear more local Latin music. Those were the only things that were negative in our opinion. And it is not enough to keep us from returning.

We met a lot of great people from Southern California, Texas and from all over the United States. It was another great trip and we will be returning.

“Desire Cabo”

Spent five wonderful days and night at Desires Cabo. We booked directly with the hotel and it was almost effortless. The resort is very nice and private. We found that the price was a bit high but the food at Suki's (the Asian fusion restaurant) was great. we ended having dinner three nights at the restaurant. The first night we tried the teppanyaki style and the food was a bit salty but okay. The presentation was very good.

The only negative thing was coming back to the room on day two and found the hotel manager informing us that the room above us sprung a leak. Water was coming through the ceiling in the bathroom. The engineering staff was working in locating the leak and it happened that a water pipe broke in the room above us but the water was contained to the front of the room. The manager offer to clean up our bathroom pronto and had a few extra housekeeping staff to clean up the mess within an hour.

We also had a second floor room right above the Melange Bar. It did get a bit noisy after the disco closed at 2 or 3am but i found it fun hearing a few screaming females shouting out their feelings early in the morning.

One word of advice for newbies going to the resort is to get up around 7am and get a poolside bed. Just go down early and put a few personal belongings on the bed like a book or a beach bag on the bed. Usually by 9:30am all of the beds are taken. I it nice to have one of those bed to lie down on during the afternoon. it does get rather hot lying on the lounge chair and it is better to get one of the covered pool beds.

Service at the restaurant right next to the pool was great. besides what they are serving on the buffet line, you can ask the grill chef to make you something with the ingredients on the buffet line. One day, i had him do a fish taco for me by just grillng some of the fish up and cutting them up and put them over a few soft tortilla. Another day, i ask if he can grill me some steak fajita and on another day, my wife had one of the workers behind the grill make her a tomato cheese cucumber salad.

Even though it is all inclusive, the day before we left, i did slip a few of the restaurant worker some $$$ to to show my appreciation for their special efforts in making this a special trip for us.

Since this is a clothing optional resort, about ten percent of the guest did not disrobe. it is optional and no one will comment. usually it happens on the first day for these people and most felt comfortable by the end of the second day. Just remember, very few have hard bodies or obese. Most are like the rest of the population, just in between. We did not notice any gawker if that concern you. This is a very upscale resort.

The back room in the disco did get a bit risque on the weekend when a few younger did show up but it is fairly contained to just the backroom of the disco.

One more thing. The jacuzzi swim up bar was great. large jacuzzi overlooking the water and the bartender and his helper just worked hard to make sure that everyone was serve quickly.

Overall, I give this resort thumbs up and the food and service was good. not five star but atleast a four star.

This was our first trip to a clothing-optional resort and we absolutely had a ball. From the second we stepped out of our cab, and arrived pool side we felt completely at ease and welcomed. The people that we met were the nicest and from all over the world. The resort was impeccable from service to cleanliness, with the only small downside being dinner. The breakfast, lunches, and room service was fantastic. We are looking forward to a return trip as soon as possible

“Some things you should know before you go.”

Desire Resort & Spa

Trip advisor is so very helpful to us! After reading several accounts I knew NOT to go to the 'Breakfast"that was offered to us by the staff when we checked in. Some of my friends from Boston did go, and got a time-share pressure sales pitch thrown at them! Hey- We're on Vacation (or Holiday as the wonderful Brits say...) so why waste your time in a sales pitch. Moving on-

The food was just okay. The bars didn't have many drinks that I hoped for. Is it too hard to have Ouzo in stock? The staff was wonderful as described by earlier visitors.

For my wife of 24 years and I, we preferred the ocean water. I think whoever wrote that the beach was bad must be mistaken. We loved 'hugging' eachother real close in the wonderful water of the clean ocean. We felt that the lifestylers normally gravitated elsewhere, especially to the pool and the hot tub. We enjoyed seeing the sun rise each morning sipping our coffee instead of the late night antics of those that did their thing. That is the wonderful thing about Desire! You can be naked and be yourself. Nobody ever put any pressure on us to do anything. Ahhh, that was a wonderful vacation.

We did feel rather cramped as the facility is very compact. After five days it was enough. A very good time to retool, and unwind.

As much as we liked it, it is rather doubtful that we will be chomping at the bit to return. I'm rather curious about Hidden Beach for the next trip.

“Most relaxing vacation!”

Desire Resort & Spa

May 31, 2008
5/7 found this review helpful

Hmmmm…..where do I begin….

My husband and I truly LOVED our vacation and have decided it was one of the most relaxing vaca's we have taken in a very long time. We did have some things we would have changed, but nothing that would make or break the trip for us at all. We just now know what to expect and what to plan for. But we both DEFINITELY decided that the next time we go, we want to plan to go with a group of people made up of friend or new friends we just met because it would be just that much more fun!

Here's a run-down of things that were good/bad...

Pool & Hot tub: Very nice and big. Love the swim-up bar! Didn't like that they didn't have Crown Royal Whiskey in the all-inclusive for my husband but he made do with C&C. The pool was FABULOUS and we spent 80% of our vaca just relaxing in the pool beds, soaking in the sun, and enjoying the poolside music & activities. Beware though, because the pool got WAY TOO HOT by the afternoon and was called the "hot tub" by the end of the night! The actual hot tub upstairs, (which was a 40 Person Hottub!!!) was beautiful and romantic but also very hot! It was nice to go up there at night and hear the crashing waves against the beach, while you soaked by the candlelight and by the firpits that were lit to set the mood. As a warning though, be careful of the ledge in the hot tub in the "dark side" of the hot tub…my husband and I killed our shins like 40 times cuz you just can't see anything over there in the dark. It was definitely romantic to hear the waves crashing against the beach at night, but I just wish they'd turn down the heat to less then 100 degrees! (not kidding)

Food: Breakfast buffet was great, easy, and quick. Omlettes made-to-order! The pool area lunch buffet was also quick, easy & good. Dinner, well, this was a
little rough some nights. The food was good, but it did take
extremely long to get, especially during a week with low capacity. We also were frustrated that a lot of the wait staff didn't speak
English, and if they didn't, they would answer "Yes" and then never come back. We just wish they'd ask for help or ask us to repeat ourselves. My husband and I are extremely laid back, but when it came to waiting 30-40 minutes for a cup of coffee at the end of dinner, it just bummed us out and we often just said forget it and went to the
bar.

Staff: The staff was very friendly. Rocio was only there for ½ of our
stay but she makes the whole staff! She is the best and so funny and sexy all in one. The other staff members like Javier, Charley & Giovanni are very nice and fun too.

Disco: Loved the décor and seating. Miriam was a fabulous waitress with some great dance moves! The DJ played a lot of the same music, but when a request was made, he played it right away, so that was good! I danced my booty off and at times was the only on dancing, but nonetheless, it was fun. I do wish people would dance and participate more though, but I guess it was just the crowd.

Packing: My husband and I packed one bag too many, but we were glad we had our options in the end because you never know how you will feel until you get there. Make sure to bring good suntan lotion that is waterproof since you spend like 5-7 hours in the pool! A hat is a
good idea too!

The People: We met some FABULOUS people while were there! The people really made the trip for us and we were lucky to meet some really fun and nice people!

My husband and I truly LOVED our vacation and have decided it was one of the most relaxing vaca's we have taken in a very long time. We did have some things we would have changed, but nothing that would make or break the trip for us at all. We just now know what to expect and
