We spent 10 days touring the Yucatan and only stayed one night in Cancun - Thank God! ME by Melia is as nice as any of the hotels along the Hotel Zone. The rooms are fab and trendy and the beds are lovely BUT the service was the worst we experienced all holiday. We checked into our room and all was good, spent some time at the beach and then went back to the room to shower before dinner. I opened the closet to grab out some slippers and the robe and was disgusted to see that the cupboard was full of rubbish, dirty towels and beer bottles from the previous occupant. How could this happen? Completely unacceptable at a hotel of this supposed calibre. I advised front desk staff and they sent someone to remove the rubbish but there was no apology or offer of any sort for something, a drink, anything on the house. After this debacle we decided to try the food in the Spanish restaurant in the hotel. It was awful! The service was non-existent and we were the only table they had to serve. Mussels came out and were arranged nicely in an olive boat style bowl although they served us unopened mussels! Are they mad? Did they want to make us sick? The wine was undrinkable and overpriced and did i mention the service?! Would not recommend to anyone to eat there. Yes the pools are lovely, yes the view is gorgeous, but for the price, i would escape out of there, drive 30 mins south and stay at Playa del Carmen - same turquoise ocean, same gorgeous views at a fraction of the price and the hotels over deliver on service and value.

We just returned from Cancun and can't say enough positive comments about the ME Cancun by Melia. We were there for a convention and arrived a few days prior to visit with friends and enjoy the beauty of Cancun. The staff at the ME are very customer service oriented. The Beachhouse Restaurant was our favorite - the ceviche was some of best I've had. The adult pool was very nice and the Bali beds are wonderful (even though the ones by the adult pool are reserved and there is a charge). If you have a need for a convention hotel, this is a great property for a smaller group. The rooms were very well appointed and I can't think of anything we needed that was not available...even scales which kept us on track for the week. By the way, the music CDs in the room are yours to take. The art throughout the property is a very nice touch as well. First class hotel with first rate staff.

Everything was perfect I dont know where to begin.
When we first arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly staff that took our bags immediately and held on to them until we checked in.
The front desk staff were all very friendly and served us champagne which was a nice touch that impressed me right away.
When we checked in our room was not ready which was annoying because we had been travelling to get there all day, so we just took a tour of the hotel while we waited.

The grounds: breathtaking. Everywhere we went I could not stop talking about how happy I was to be there. The lobby area is so upscale and beautiful it definitly seemed like we were in a 5 star hotel.
You walk out the back doors and there are 3 beautiful pools in a row. Really nice beach beds and lounge chairs everywhere that we never had a problem finding one to sit on.
The main pool always felt like warm bath water which we loved. The main pool has a swim up bar attached to it which was really nice, but be prepared to pay $10 + per drink. The drinks were amazing, I ordered a "Dirty Monkey" and LOVED it.
They have a little place to go and grab towels so you dont need to bring your own or use the ones from up in your room which is nice. They have staff walking around the beach and pools prepared to bring you anything you want. I read a lot of complaints about the beach area... but to be honest its fine. There are beach beds and lounge chairs lining the beach and the water is really nice, its nice to see the lifeguards too, it makes you feel more secure. There were a couple of people walking up and down the beach trying to sell jewelery but if you said no they left you alone.

The rooms: Rooms are one of the most important things to me and I was more than impressed. They were cleaned spotless everyday and it was sooo nice to come home at night and see the turn down service with your robes and slippers waiting for you.
I was suprised to see one night that we came back, the maid had left bracelets on the side table for me, I thought that was so sweet I wanted to cry!!
The beds were beyond comfortable I dont even remember falling asleep thats how good they feel. The airconditioning was always nice and cold which is good after you come in from the burning hot sun.
I personally suggest trying not to use the mini bar as much as possible... when my boyfriend and I first got there we were going all out with $10 bottled water etc... but if you go to walmart or a convenience store it will save you a lot of money we later realized.
The washroom was very clean and they had amazing aveda bath products which I loved. The shower is really nice like everyone says but I wish it had more pressure to it.
When we first got to the room and used the washroom it plugged up, we called to have someone come up and fix it and not even 15 minutes later he was there and done. Very impressive.
We ordered room service two nights in a row and loved it. The chicken breast with mashed potatoes, the strawberry icecream and new cheescake were so good. My boyfriend ordered pizza and really liked that as well. A little pricey but worth it.

This hotel is located in the perfect location. You can walk to a mall within a couple minutes. Make sure you use the public bus its so cheap (about 60 cents/person) and it takes you up and down the strip. We went to walmart and it was pretty far away from the hotel, there really wasnt that many good deals there just good to get snacks and drinks.

We used BEST DAY TOURS to book our excursion and our ground transportation to and from the airport. So glad we did. They were so nice and the prices were good. We booked an excursion where we got to drive our own 2 seater speedboat through the jungle and then snorkelling was included as well. This cost $66/person which I thought was very reasonable. Try not to bring many personal items and lots of money because one guy we were on the trip with was claiming that they stole his wallet. We didnt have a problem but who knows what really happened, so just play it safe. The beach snack bar at the dock had the most amazing food, chicken burritos were great.

I didnt see too many great shopping deals, I felt like the markets were raising the prices because they knew we were tourists. I bought a ring from a place that wanted $400 for it initially and we ended up getting it down to $60, so dont pay the first price they ask. The malls were just like the ones in the U.S and Canada I didnt see any good deals on clothes really. But it was definitly worth a trip just to look around and see what was there.

I booked our stay at the Me by Melia in Cancun and thought that if the hotel were half as good as the pictures on their website looked, I'd be thrilled. The hotel is better than the pictures look. It is trendy, beautiful, comfortable and clean. Our room was everything I could have wanted: spotlessly clean, spacious, gorgeous view of the pool and beach, the bathroom and shower were a special treat.


Upon check in we were greeted with chilled champagne, very nice touch. Our check in took about 3 minutes, we had our keys and were off to the elevators. Room was perfect so we got unpacked and started exploring.

ME is located very close to a bus stop, there are taxis waiting out front to take you anywhere you want to go. You will have no trouble getting around Cancun. The hotel is also very close to the La Isla shopping complex. There are clothing stores, a McDonals, Chili's, Starbucks, some local restaurants and a convenience store here. There is also a movie theater and an interactive aquarium where you can touch sharks/rays, which was pretty cool.

The pool and beach are both amazing and since we were at the hotel during low season we had both almost to ourselves, which we loved.

One thing I was worried about after reading the hotel reviews was the music that plays pretty much everyhwere on property. I was afraid it was going to be too loud, or obnoxious but, we really enjoyed it. Most of what was playing was at a reasonable/low volume and was very chill and relaxing to listen to.

The cost of food on site is a bit outrageous. The food is good but eating at that price for the duration of the stay gets a bit painful. We ordered room service one evening, a club sandwich, cheeseburger, and a slice of cheesecake, and it cost $55 after tip. I must say the burger was phenomenal, but that much money for one in-room meal is pretty harsh. The same goes for the breakfast buffet. There is an incredible selection of food and everything on the buffet is wonderful, but $25 per person, plus tip, gets really expensive and is not an attractive option.

The only issue we had during our whole stay was the roomservice staff. They really, really, REALLY wanted to clean our room. We had the DND sign up but still got some knocks. They come in early in the day to do a thorough clean (floors get mopped, bedding changed, trash emptied, things get dusted.. it's extensive) and to swap out towels. Then in the evening, they come in to do a turn down service. It was all I could do to get them to stop cleaning!! I get the desire to make sure a room is clean but a little more respect needs to be paid to the DND sign.

I booked my travel through Orbitz and went during low season so I feel I got an excellent deal. I really didn't feel the cost of room per night was too high.

Overall I though this hotel was amazing. I felt safe, comfortable and well taken care of. I would absolutely go back to that hotel on my next trip and am telling everyone I know what a great time I had there.
