What can I say about this resort? I have to say, for being over 30 years old, it was in excellent condition. The housekeepers are doing an excellent job as well the all the employees. Although it's far from downtown cancun, it's an excellent place away from the rucus of downtown. we ate at la palapa a few times.
Everyone should go eat at Hacienda Sisal which is adjacent to the sister resort, The Royal Sands. Excellent buffet (5 stars) and live entertainment.
As for accommodations, my family stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. it was very spacious and clean. The view was breathtaking, showing the downtown strip and the lagoon.
There are activities at the resort everyday. They have a schedule available throughout the hotel. (ex: make your own crafts, water polo day)
The negative aspects of our stay was the fact that everyday we were hassled by the people to attend their timeshare. If they would have left us alone, we would have been fine.
From what I remember, I believe the resort is closed or switching its chain. Whatever happened, I hope for the best. It's been a great 30 years for the club international de cancun.
