Beautiful Beach. Beautiful views. The hotels are situated between waht used to be a large area of shrubbery, but now, the resort is actually in the shadow if the Westin resort.

The resort was amazing, the staff were EXCELLENT!!
The rooms where nice, fresh and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job!! The food at the buffet was good, a good selection.
One negative thing...
there is no longer lush jungle around the hotel, as the picture states on the website, but now mon-sat there are builders on either side, sawing, cutting and blasting ALL DAY LONG...very loud
they also whistle at you, I was sitting having a drink, getting yelled at, and waved at my Mexicans, overlooking the resort.
The streets were very clean, but alot of construction going on.
Another negative thing...don't trust anyone, even your representative, they all work on commission, and if you talk to the locals, they will give you the low down.
All and all it was amazing, the beach was simply spectacular, the ruins are amazing, but yet again, the construction has ruined what I imagine was once a very peaceful resort.
If you are thinking of the park royal, it was a good stay, a few things for improvement, out of thier controll...
all and all, it was awesome!

“Cancuns problem”

Super friendly staff

The Park Royal tries very hard to make your stay pleasurable!
The hotel is clean to a fault. The over use of improperly diluted bleach is frightening. Upon my arrival to our room I washed my hands. A few hrs. later I noticed that my shirt was bleached white at the sleeves and ruined.
I'm sorry I mentioned the problem because while I was asleep in my room(9:30 pm) there came a knock at the door. My husband opened the door and in stormed a maid with a can of air deodorizer, who like a made woman sprayed every room even the bedroom where I was sleeping before my husband could stop her. Choke from the bleach or choke from the aerosols? Intro to first day.
May I mention the two HUGH building going up on each side of the Park Royal!!!! Hum, you haven't been told of the construction?????
Oh yeah, and may I mention that the erosion of the once beautiful beach is a shocker?
Environmentally speaking, all of Cancun is a disaster waiting to happen.
The smell of raw sewage from the Kulkulcan Avenue is overpowering!
Simply walking across the street to Isla Mall you have to cover you nose. Also, be very careful crossing the street. Pedestrians take their life into their own hands every day. The traffic is crazy.
So, Unfortunately, I didn't go into the beautiful Caribbean blue waters for genuine fear of being knocked down. My husband took a few tumbles for me.
I saw, from daily walks on the beach, the terrible cost of destructive hurricanes to this area. ( I was present for one called Ivan.) but, Cat. 5 Wilma really set Cancun back a few years.
Look at the beautiful picture of Park Royal and know this......There are two UGLY construction sites on either side of you.
The staff is Great, the hotel is clean, the food is wonderful!!!!!
Beach combing is still fun.
If you are an enlighted environmentalist, you will be sad. You will see the iguanas, who make their home at the Mayan ruin, are being squeezed into a shrinking piece of real estate. Shame on Mexico for allowing a hotel to be built so close to a National Treasure!
Perhaps this wasn't the place to say all this. I just had to say it!

My husband and I went to the Park Royal for a 5 night 4 day trip on March 18th. The weather was wonderful: warm, sunny, clear blue skies, and although we were worried the place would be filled with spring breakers, this was not the case. Oh sure, they were there, but it was filled more with parents with young children and a wide range of married couples of all age groups. As you have read from other reviews, this resort is Clean with a capital C. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and if you give them a dollar or two when they hand you a drink or wait on your table, they love you. We had one waiter in the buffet, Gregario, who because we tipped him would practically knock down any other waiters who tried to seat us when we walked in the door to so he could take us to his section. We really enjoyed ourselves and the resort and only have two comments to make where we feel they could improve upon: we really missed adult entertainment in the lobby during the evenings. I'm sure the resort thinks if you want entertainment you'll go down the street to one of the bars, but not everyone wants to do that and especially at spring break when those places are loaded with kids trying to drink each other under the table. We did suggest that to them when we filled out our guest questionnaire. I overheard one of the entertainment staff discussing just that issue with another adult and she told him the resort tries to entertain the children that are staying there rather than the adults. The only other issue we had was regarding cold food at the buffet. Overall the food itself was great and very plentiful, don't hesitate to eat a burger or hot dog at the pool snack bar, they were excellent. But we found that a lot of the food in the buffet would be cold even though it was over a flame...this was disappointing. So we opted to skip the buffet for dinner and ate at the Itallian Restaurant every night and had wonderful meals there. Make sure you ask to sit in Marteen's section when you make your reservation, he's a wonderful waiter. All in all we'd highly recommend the Park Royal to anyone wanting a great getaway because of how clean it is, how friendly and welcoming the staff was, how close it is to a huge mall right across the street, and because it's beach is by far the best one for as far as we could see on our walks up and down the beach checking out the other resorts. Go and enjoy!

“Great Hotel: Park Royal Cancun”

Park Royal Piramides Cancun

5 of 5 stars
San Francisco

If you are looking for a great value for your money, this hotel is for you. One of the cheapest on the block amongst the all-inclusive, the hotel actually delivers great service!

Room: splurge and get yourself a presidential suite - completely worth it. The oversized balcony with the private tub is worth the upgrade alone.

Food: the ala carte restaurant is awesome - they have all sorts of liquor included - champaign, baily's, frangelico, etc. The steak was better than I've had for years. Make sure to TIP your server - otherwise he will be an [-] to you next time. We forgot to do that the first time around, and actually had to put cash on the table during the second dinner - so the waiter would serve us well.

Pools - pools were rather cold during March - the ocean was much warmer. For some reason the swim up bar is located in the pool with all the kids. But having adults-only pool is great.

We'd go there again!

“Very nice for the $$$”

Park Royal Piramides Cancun

Mar 29, 2008

We booked this trip on Orbitz about 6 months ago, when evrything else for Spring Break seemed to be booked up. Considering that, it was very reasonably priced and a great value. They have only 1 sit-down restaurant, 1 buffet restaurant, a snack bar (burgers, hot dogs, subs, nachos, etc) and put some stuff out on the Veranda at various times of the day. Sit down restaurant was very good (ask for Guillermo for waiter - much better than any other) and we ate dinner there very night. Buffet was fine for breahfast & lunch, bars start opening at 10am, all closed by midnight - have some great beers in the 2 restaurants (Corona, Modelo, Modelo Negra-amber), Corona on tap elsewhere and some good top shelf liquor brands - J&B, Ballantines, Bacardi, Jack Daniels, Smirnoff, Beefeater's.

The Royal Vacation salespeople were more of a bother than I had hoped, but just say no. Very clean, excellent staff, walking distance to shopping & other restaurants (if you want them), great beach area compared to others close by, pools are OK.

Again, not a top-tier Iberostar or similar, can't eat & drink 24/7 or eat at a different restaurant every night, but an excellent value for the money.
