I have so many things to say, but let me begin with saying that this hotel is AMAZING! I have stayed at a lot of nice places, and the CasaMagna exceeded my expectations. Our room was great with incredible views. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a stunning lobby. The entire resort, including the rooms are kept immaculate. The pool area was great and we never had a problem finding a chair (and there were 40 of us). Although the beach has been washed away, this was not a problem here. There was a large area with chairs on the beach and an area for volleyball. We had long walks on the beach without a problem. However, it is a bit rocky trying to get in the water, but if you walk a few minutes up the beach you can easily get in.
The staff at the CasaMagna are the friendliest people I have ever met. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Francisco Roman was my wedding planner. He ROCKS!!! Thanks to him I had the wedding of my dreams and stress free. I actually did very little planning and Francisco did the majority of everything. It could not have been more perfect or beautiful. Although this may be a little bias, I have to say this was one of the best weddings I have ever been to. The food was delicious; one of the best meals I ever had! Our DJ (David Carrillo) was surperb and played the best music. We were worried that we did not pick out our own music, but the music he played was better then we imagined. Everyone was dancing the whole night. All of our friends were so impressed with our wedding and how smoothly everything went. I could not be happier with EVERYTHING!
Back to the hotel and Cancun...if you do not want to leave the resort you do not have to. There are at least 6 places to eat dinner. We ate at the Thai restaurant. The restaurant was very chill and the food was above average. I eat thai at least once a week and this place was not the best, but definetely worth going to again (we ate there twice). Mikados is also a place you must go to. I had some of the best sushi I ever had in my life-really. The Caribe roll is a must. The brunch at La Capilla was also very good. Most days we ordered room service for brkfst. Quick service and very good. Across the street is La Dolce Vita. We had our rehearsal dinner there and it was EXCELLENT. Another must do in Cancun is Pericos (concierge recommended this-they are very helpful). Pericos is one of the craziest places I have ever been to. The food was great and we had so much fun. You have to go there to understand. They even married us in front of the entire restaurant! Another amazing meal was at the Casitas at the Ritz. You eat on the beach in your own hut. The service and food were five stars. If you go with a larger group, it is not as expensive. However, we had the most romantic meal by ourselves. Definitely worth spending the extra bucks for. We went to CocoBongos on Friday. It was the craziest club I have ever gone to. A lot of fun, but VERY loud, crowded, and bad drinks. We did not take any excursions b/c we had too good of a time drinking poolside. However, some of our family went to Xcaret and Xel-Ha and loved it.
Overall, I could not have asked for a better wedding and honeymoon. We are already planning to go back. If you go to Cancun, save your money on the Ritz (which was very lame) and stay at the CasaMagna.
(If you want to see more pics of how the wedding was set up, please let me know.)
