“Simply the best AI for the sophisticated, discerning traveller”

Le Blanc Spa Resort

I have stayed at many AI resorts over the past twenty years (12x at Sandals on three islands, 5 x Grand Lido, Breezes, Couples San Souci and Swept Away, Le Sport in St. Lucia, Half Moon) , and liked some more than others. Le Blanc, however, was outstanding in every way.

There is simply nothing this resort does not do well. Staff is outstanding in every area, food superb, rooms lovely, gym well equipped and immaculate, spa amazing. Le Blanc delivered a perfect vacation, even better than the Ritz Carltons I have stayed in and enjoyed.

No loud groups here, no 20 and 30 somethings bent on partying 24x7. This resort is elegant, sophisticated in every way. Very romantic and we booked while we were there to return next year.

Also, we had not planned to stay at Le Blanc this trip and were booked into EDR originally. After one night, we decided to find alternate accomodations for the rest of our trip and Le Blanc was recommended very highly by a couple I respect so I called and they had rooms so were packed our stuff and moved.

My friends called it amazing and they were absolutely correct. We were thrilled with the resort and will definitely stay there each time we go to Cancun.

“Place to go if you REALLY want to relax!”

Le Blanc Spa Resort

Le Blanc is one of Palace Resorts most upscale properties. My husband and I are in our late 40s early 50s and although we felt the hotel was very nice, it was a little too reserved for our liking.

GOOD: Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are bright and airy. The pools and beach are wonderful. Since it is a relatively small property, we never had the feeling of being crowded. We never had to wait for any meals. The gym and spa are top-notch. There are quiet places to go outdoors to read an relax. Room service is prompt. No matter where we went we always felt very relaxed. There are no planned activities other than nightly entertainment of some sort in the main lobby/lounge. The energy conservation system they use with the lighting in the rooms is very impressive.

NOT SO GOOD: Had to dress for dinner each night for all restaurants. Seemed silly because men switched from nice shorts and shirt to t-shirt and jeans for dinner because long pants were required. A little more relaxed for women. The food was pretty good - the daily breakfast and lunch buffets were good - a number of items available made to order. If you like prime rib like it is prepared in the USA, don't order it here. It is served like pot roast, well-done (even if ordered mediano rojo - med rare) and is covered in brown gravy. The butler service was wasted on us. The lounge is very quiet. Although we visited with some other guests, the way the bar area, tables, etc. are arranged does not promote "group" conversation.

OVERALL: Le Blanc is very nice but a bit more reserved than we like, a good number of guests were British, Canadian and Asian and the hotel had the "feel" of being a European hotel. We stayed at Aventura last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. As palace resort members, we will be trying their other properties, but I am fairly certain we won't be returning to Le Blanc. We like a hotel that has more of a fun, entertaining and casual atmosphere.

    • Disliked — A little to reserved and pretentious. Casual attire not allowed at dinner. Felt bored sometimes.

Le Blanc Spa Resort

We went to this hotel for our honeymoon November 4-13. Well, overall, the hotel was amazing and well exceeded any expectations me or my husband ever had.

When we arrived in Mexico, customs didn't take long at all. Be sure to bring a pen to fill out immigrations forms on the plane and fill out the bottom, too (a lot of people got sent back because they didn't fill it out). We even got selected for a random luggage check (in front of everyone and they even pulled out my retainer, very embarrassing) but it wasn't too time consuming. As you walk out of the airport there is the sea of travel agents trying to sell time shares, but ignore them and walk by, they should go on. Then outside the airport is a ton of car services. If you booked through olumpus (likely through liberty mutual), its kind of confusing but look for any one with an orange shirt and they will point you the right way. They then give you a spiel about how mexico time shares can rip you off and to beware. Then they take your round trip form (which sounded fishy and kind of worried us, several people even asked to speak to a supervisor because it sounded funny) and gave us an appointment to meet with a representative. They then give you a trip to the hotel.

Once you arrive at the hotel, you sit down at a desk and give you some hyacinth juice and a carnation and book you into your room. Your luggage is transported to your room. They then take you to another desk where they go over the tours that are free and invite you to take their time share talk. They were up front with what tours were available. They then let you go to your room. We were in room 420 and it was a honeymoon suite with partial oceanview with lagoon view as well. We then went to the appointment with Olympus and they try to sell you tours and then arrange your pick up time. They are nice and weren't too pushy.

The room was amazing with Lays chips, Snickers, Peanut M&M's, and a lot of drinks. The temp was in the 80's but the breeze was very strong which was cooling so it was great weather ( I can't handle I lot of heat, so I was very happy with it).

Food: There were a lot of mistakes in the book in the room. We went to BlancStage, which was supposed to be casual with a variety of dishes but ended up being the gourmet 7 dish place. I was very hesitent because it was so fancy and I don't drink wine. It was really good, I was very surprised. All dinner restaurants are casual elegance (no shorts) regardless of what it says in the book. The Japanese was my husbands favorite and the Italian was my favorite. We went to the international place once and it was great as well. The breakfast was buffet and was great with lots of fruits, cheeses, eggs made to order, etc. Lunch was great too, with any meat you ever wanted made to order and a variety of dishes. The desserts were to die for and their were a ton of ice creams that were great. I ate ice cream every day. The honeymooners dinner was great with filet mignon and lobster tail. ( I am not a seafood person, but everyone else seemed pleased).

The beach was kind of eroded and was not very large, but it was still very nice. I saw pictures from June and it was definitely smaller this time. There was no swimming either day due to the choppiness of the ocean. surrounding beaches had swimming and were calmer but the water was very cold. The pools were great and the drinks never ended. There were meals offered by poolside around lunch. I wasn't that impressed with room service or the variety (they were out of half of what I wanted). The hamburger and fries was good, though.

We did the chichen Itza tour through olympus and the jungle tour through le blanc. We chose the mid level chichen itza (upper level included wine and such with the lunch, etc). Food was good for the buffet. It was great, but the vendors are very annoying, you say no and they don't stop (when they say $1 they mean $1 off). The jungle tour was great with snorkeling. There were tons of fish that got real close, amazing. We didn't do the other tours. Be careful, some dont' include the fees for snorkeling so they can be more expensive then paying for the tour once you add it up.

The hotel gave us a 150 spa credit, so I did the Q4 stone massage with seaweed wrap and facial. It was great and the pre spa treatments were great as well.

The rooms were very clean but be sure to use the "do not disturb" sign. They can come at any time, and actually got the door open before we could answer. A lot of times they didn't refill the snacks and twice they came after 9:30 when we had the sign up so the bed didn't get turned down.

There were several malls, one in each direction but they are not like america, they really hassle you, even the restaurants, even from across the street. Be aware.

Overall, sitting by the pool or the ocean was great and this honeymoon was a dream. I wouldn't want anything more. We definitely plan on going back again soon. We would reccomend it to anyone!

“Relaxation! Exactly what we needed!”

i have to say that i did a lot of research on cancun before arriving. my wife and i needed a much needed get away vacation from our 16 month old little girl. we wanted nothing but relaxation, good food and to be waited on hand and foot. let me tell you we got just that. the food was delicious. the breakfast buffet every morning is delicious! they make you whatever you want to order and their triangle hashbrowns are soooo good! then we ate at the fancy 7 course meal restaurant on the 3rd floor one night. it was very eclectic and something that we enjoyed so much. we felt like we were on the iron chef. the waitor comes around and explains each dish. it is also a wine tasting so you go through many different wines during the meal. the infinity pool was something that i cannot explain. it was heaven! just beautiful. we were so nervous because we kept looking at the weather forecast and it kept saying that it was going to rain in cancun the whole time, well it didnt rain once. the rooms were beautiful and so clean! we got serenity massages a the spa in the hotel and they were the best massages we have ever had! seriously, go here! its worth it if you want a romantic, or just A quiet getaway. its a perfect 10! look out for our friends Venina and Richardo. they handle entertainment there and they are just so sweet. we really liked them! thank you so much leblanc for giving us the relaxation that we needed from our hectic lives as parents in nyc. we will definitely be going back to leblanc in the future!

I never write reviews. I simply could not, in good conscience, ignore this opportunity to applaud the women and men who diligently worked to make our stay at Le Blanc one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of our lives. My wife and I honeymooned there this October (07) for 7 days. The amenities and grounds approached perfection; the spa experience sublime; and the food was amazing.
