“Cancun Plaza is not a hotel”

Cancun Plaza Condo Hotel

We have stayed at Cancun Plaza many times over the years. We love it. This is a condominium complex, not a hotel. Units are rented by owners. You need to know the owner or get references about them. Cheap rent means, well, cheap. Figure it out. We rent from great owners who take care of their units. Tina and Peter Hartman manage many units and do a GREAT job. If you want your your every whim met, go to a swanky hotel or resort. If you are independent and willing to immerse yourself culturally (i.e. speak some Spanish instead of yelling English) you will enjoy your experience. Some owners and/or managers are not good, but that should not reflect on all the owners and managers who do a great job.
Cancun has done an awesome job recovering from Wilma. Reconstruction continues and it takes time.

“Terrible service and rude staff”

This place is Terrible with a capital T. I would never go back the service is horrible and they don't give a crap about you after they get your money. There was no running water, the bathroom doors didn't lock and broke glass all over the place. The guy at the front desk was rude and didn't even want to help and there was no one with any authority to even talk too.

“The best dump you'll ever stay in-tip your maid!”

I stayed at the Cancun Plaza during my senior year of college. Along with over 50 others in our group, we had an absolute blast there. If you want to get out and explore Cancun, needing only a place to crash and a pool to lounge by, this place is great. If you're looking for a resort, don't even think about it! The poolside bar was a great time and the food was not bad. #1 tip is to tip the maid! We made the mistake of not doing this and ran out of toilet paper when everyone started to get the squirts. Easy enough. The Cancun Plaza twas a dump of a hotel, but it was also a great time!

“a decent place to stay”

Cancun Plaza Condo Hotel

We went to Cancun Plaza with a bit of trepidation based on web reviews of the condo and warnings of the general damage in Cancun from Wilma. We prepared ourselves for the worst, and I think as a result ended up leaving pleasantly satisfied.

We rented from one of the owners for a very fair price. The unit was clean and tastefully decorated. No bugs, TV worked fine with USA satellite service, plenty of warm water, and good maid service. That said, the condition of the units seemed to differ with each owner.

The building is showing wear on the exterior, and the original pool bar/resturant needs to be rebuilt (as a result of a fire a few years ago, not the hurricane). I got the impression that there was a lot of infighting and squabbling amoung the owners that prevents some needed work from getting done.

Some of the resident owners were downright rude but the girls in the convenience/deli (Claudia in particular) were awesome & the guys at the bar/food pool tent were great (Jesus especially). Our manager was strangely MIA but her friend Chris picked up the slack.

Cancun is rebuilding fast. They are pushing sand around and planting new palms. The bottom half of the zone (where CCP is) was hardest hit but they are working 24/7. One evening there were bulldozers rebuilding the beach right under us all through the night. Again, we had prepared ourselves for this and remained copasetic about this stuff. If you can do the same, I would recommend Cancun Plaza.

“very quiet beautiful view”

We recently spent a week at this location and our initial trepidation was quickly dispelled by the manager Tina Hartman.

The night before we left I read some of the reviews on this site and several were extremely negative although others were quite positive, anyhow we were unsure of what we were coming to.

Apparently this complex is all full time owners some of whom occasionally rent their rooms out. There are at least eight individual managers of the rooms to be rented who are hired by the actual owners to take care of the upkeep and rentals of these rooms.

As you can guess these managers are very different in the way they operate and therefore the condition of the rooms and the service provided can vary greatly.

We found Tina to be very helpful and efficient and would recommend her to anyone.

The building itself does appear older then its given age of twenty years but it was clean and our room at least had been significantly repaired since the hurricane new beds linens tvs etc although they had no signal yet but we had a great view a nice balconey and found people there very friendly.

We would have no problem returning if Tina is still there in the future.
