“Great place, great price!”

Aquamarina Beach Hotel

5 of 5 stars
New York City, New York
Jul 22, 2008

I went to Cancun in May accompanied by a friend and had a really great time at the Aquamarina Resort. I was very skeptical at first as I had read a few bad reviews and was honestly expecting the worst. The staff was really friendly and very helpful, and the prices weren’t bad either. As for the food that some reviews complained about, it wasn’t half bad. I’m a picky eater and it was edible, good enough for me! The drinks weren’t too strong, but for me that was good as you could keep drinking the entire day without having a hangover. The rooms were clean, no bed bug problems or anything of the sort. The only thing that bothered me was that when housekeeping came to change the sheets, apparently the sheets had an old stain and they were trying to blame it on us (they would charge you for the sheets if it is your fault) which was impossible as we hadn’t really slept at the hotel that night! From here we checked the sheets every day and had the supervisor come to our room. Other than this our stay was very nice. They even have a staff to do activities with your children. I would return to this hotel with my family. But if you’re looking for something more classy and have more money to spend, then this is not the place for you.

“Dont Go Its A Dump”

Aquamarina Beach Hotel

Me and my boyfriend book this hotel for 2 weeks but because the hotel was that bad we only stayed for 5 nights.. we arrived on the 24th of june 2008. it is the worse hotel i have ever stayed in by far.

ROOM: the room was clean but very very basic. our A/C would not work there was water leeking from it. we had to put towels on the floor to soak up the water every day. we reported this on a number of occasions and when someone finally came he did not fix it proper. the guest in the next room had broke there door and as our room had a door leading into there room they had to access there room via our room 4 1 day.

FOOD: the food was disgusting i would not even feed it to a dog. when i say the food was disgusting i mean it was BAAAAAD. i could not eat it. there was absoultly no english food as this hotel catered mostly for spanish and mexican people. this is the buffet resturant. there is a snack bar beside the pool which serves burgers, chips, hotdogs and nachos. the burgers and hotdogs dont even be cooked through. if you want proper food you had to pay extra which you do not expect for all inclusive.

ENTERTAINMENT: what is there to say there was none at all.

on our fist day we met up with 7 people who where also from ireland.and 2 people from glassgow they also thought the same about the hotel it was a complete dump for the money we paid £1000 per person. after 5 days we decided to move hotel, when we contacted our rep paul he was so unhelpfull. he gave us the number of the hotel that we choose to move to and we had to arrange the transfer ourselves. 7 of people we met up with also moved hotel.
the hotel which we moved to is TEMPTATIONS hotel and spa which was the best hotel ever. we loved it that much we have booked to return next year. it is only 3 hotels up the block.
it has 6 resturants 5 bars and everything you would expect for a 4 star and much much more.
so if you have booked to go to this hotel i reccomend that you change hotel before you go and please read all the reveiws as they are all true the place is a dump.

“Take My Advice Dont Go There”

Aquamarina Beach Hotel

Jul 11, 2008

Stayed at the Aquamarina in june for 5 days (supposed 2 be two weeks )but had to move as i was unhappy with the service i recieved during my time there. My boyfriend had food poisoning on the second day, i had to call the doctor out and in the end ended up paying 350 dollars out! Wen i spoke to the rep he sed my boyfriend must have drunk too much alcohol! he didnt make a word of sense! so we moved to a different hotel the Oasis Viva which was lovely, white beaches and all that.

Th beaches at the Aquamarina are disgusting - hope nobody is planning on going in the sea .

Food at the hotel was disgusting, freezing cold and always the same old PASTA AND RICE

Staff are not too bad, i know people will read this and say im just a complainer, we paid 1650 for the holiday which obviously isnt top price for this kind of holiday but you still expect an average experience,

Good luck!

“Great trip gone horrible”

July 5th, 2008
My family just returned from a week stay at Aquamarina Beach. I would like to inform everyone that the way we were treated was terrible. We were a group of 20 (5 rooms) the hotel staff was so rude. I understand yes we are in Mexico but they showed no consideration to the language barrier. It didn't seem to matter that our group was the largest amount of people in the hotel. We filled the resturant each night and we all tipped very well, but by the middle of the week they just didn't seem to care we were there. This was my 4th trip to Cancun - I truly love it there and will return, but my entire family is on a quest now to inform everyone about the Aquamarina and how they treat people from other countries. We were not the only one's that were complaining. There was another family from USA that the bartender refused to serve, and there was a group from Australla that had the same thing happen, and one night when our family was in the resturant they refused a family from England, while allowing other "Mexician" to come in. We let them sit with us and they would not serve them - we had to tell them they were with us and they were very rude.
The food was okay, but they serve the same thing every day. If you can eat the same thing everyday then you will like the food.
One of our rooms had dirty sheets, when the maid came in she just brushed them off and said see - it's okay. We took sheets from the cart and put them on the bed.
One of our rooms didn't even get maid service for 2 days. They went to the pool to get towels to shower with.
If you want cheep and like dealing with rude people - then this is your place.
