We paid £750 each for 2 weeks all inclusive which wasnt bad, a winter sun deal - the weather was excellent for the full 2 weeks. 80+ degrees everyday.
Rooms were nice but basic, there is a door leading to nextdoor in the room which is rather thin, you can hear everything nextdoor!!!
Maids were good but a pain in the [--]. they always came late afternoon when you wanted a siesta! Our maid always came about 430pm which i thought were too late. Even if you put the do not disturb sign on the door, they still knock on and wake you up.
I complained to the rep about this, but only made things worse. Every single morning from then on after the maid woke us up by banging on the door at 830am, when i answered she kept saying reporté reporteé what ever that mean, and then walked off - but she still didnt clean the room till late. if you left them a tip they would fold the towels into different shapes, like a swan - which is nice.
the food is ok - could be better, always the same things and undercooked, however at night, you could pay a small fee and eat in the quieter poolside restaraunt and you could enjoy things like lobster and steak and it is much nicer.
the staff are excellent, the barmen Jorge, Asterio and co. Who got tto know what you drank and they would make sure you never had an empty glass. The entertainment team are excellent, chicken and maria inparticular who are wild!! they put on activities all day such as beach football, beach volleyball, water polo, mini golf, table tennis etc!
there are many nationalities that come to this hotel, in our hotel i spoke to canadians, americans, norweigans, polish, mexicans! so a good mix of people really, which makes it more interesting!
the hotel is situated right on the beach, which unfortunately has 2 jetties within very close proximity (about 10 metres), so is full of jet skis and an awful lot of seaweed!!! the hotel is situated quite far from the centre, although the buses are very regular and cost a mere 20p which solves that problem.
the front of the hotel is located on a duel carriageway, which is manic, although there are pedestrian crossings, it is not law for the cars to stop! so sometimes it is like playing chicken crossing the road!
they have a lot of themed nights where by they would put on traditional mexican shows, so that means mexican food for tea which is enjoyable!
they have a little flea market which comes to the hotel, but the sellers are too keen for a sale and you can haggle them down by about 75% of the price.
there is something on everyday and something to please all, i would not really recommend this hotel for children though!
There is so much to do in cancun, it is an excellent place. the hotel itself has excellent staff, but i would pay slightly more and go for a better hotel, even though we had the time of our lives there!!!
BEWARE THE MEXICANS ARE MAD FOR TIP! EVERYTHING YOU DO HAS TO HAVE TIP, IT GETS QUITE ANNOYING.
TIP HAGGLE THE PRICE ON EVERYTHING, YOU GET THINGS MUCH MUCH CHEAPER!
