Ok I just returned home from Cancun Yesterday from our honey moon. I am 25 and she is 27 and I had to review the hotel seeing that I booked this hotel because of the reviews on this site. I am going to do this review in a simple format of 1-10 with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best.

Food : 8

I was very surprised on how good the food was here. Oceana the seafood restaurant is awesome. Seaside Grill has great steak. The buffet was ok. Room service is ok also. One night they had a Mexican buffet by the pool. They had the best carnea sada I have ever tasted. We did not go to the Chinese restaurant but I hear it was pretty good.

Drinks : 9

I don't see where people say there drinks are not strong. They must want straight alcohol. The drinks were very good and they have the perfect mix of alcohol in them.

Pool : 7

The main pool is small but there wasn't a ton of children. Also if you want on the other side of the resort there is an infinity pool and this is very private with no kids. The water in the pools were perfect temp. and there was always empty chairs

Beach: 7

I thought the beach was ok. I thought the water might be a little clearer but overall it wasn't too bad. The sand was white and soft. If you want privacy go to the beach side were the infinity pool is. I didn't see 1 kid there the whole time we were there. It was very private. At both beaches getting a chair was not a problem.

Activities: 7

They had something to do each hour. I only played volleyball and it was fun. There is a list that comes to your door every morning and is posted in the elevators.

Room: 8

We booked the cheapest room for 288 a night and were upgraded to a dolphin view room. The rooms were pretty nice as well. We had a nice view and the maid did well keeping it clean. Nice walk in shower. Especially for honeymooners. haha. Room was always nice and cool.

Service: 10

This is what made our stay at Dreams so enjoyable. PLEASE KEEP NOTE OF THIS IF YOU PLAN ON GOING TO DREAMS. GO TO OCEANA AND ASK FOR ANGEL. He is absolutely the best waiter I have ever had in my life and my mom is a waitress. This guy was awesome. We gave tips throughout our stay. A buck or two here and there. This guy was so good We gave him 17 bucks the first time and 25 the second time.

Overall 8.5

Dreams overall was a great place to stay. Dont listen to these grumpy people that try to give it a 2 out of 5. That is insane. If you have any questions feel free to email me at hutch316@hotmail.com.

We went back to the Dreams resort in the Club Tower this Spring break after going there last year at the same time. It seemed livelier perhaps because the Delphinus program was in full swing (it had just opened during our last visit). There seemed to be a lot more kids as a result and the menus reflected that, as there were more kid-friendly options. The breakfast buffet was always wonderful and lunch and dinner options were pretty good. I would recommend the dolphin swim and you can save 15% if you book online ahead of time - just google Delphinus Dreams Cancun. Slather on some bio-degradable sunscreen as the sun is strong even at 10:30 (Mexitan is a good one).

We stayed at the resort and tried the water sports available for a fee including the wave runner and snorkel excursion at nearby reefs.

This is a wonderful family friendly resort and you aren't limited to staying in the resort itself as it is very close to a few shopping options. Entertainment at night was pretty good at night - they had a Mayan show one night.

“best value for money holiday ive had”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

Hi, we travelled (4 couples in our early 30s) to dreams in may and i have to say i have never got better value for money out of a holiday in my life, never had better/more polite/helpful/perfect english speaking staff/service, beautiful wide variety of food in different styles of restaurants (7 i think), for breakfast lunch or dinner. room service 24 hrs a day for food and drink (we made good use of this). I tried a lot of dishes that ive never had the bottle to try before. The room, spa excellent, bars all top class, a good variety of beers, spirits and huge variety of cocktails, the girls had a great time sunbathing (as they do) on the beautiful private beach while the lads and grls had great fun with the water sports, spa and entertainment (which was not too hard on the system). just be aware if you are going off the resort. when some of the local bar staff/owners see that you are not a local, they wil try take you to the cleaners on prices and tips. this was the only bad partof the holiday, but it wouldnt put me off going back, just made me wiser for te next time i/we go back. but the night life off the resort is very good and like anywhere else in the world you have to be careful going from the safety of your resort. plenty of activities to do. plenty of shopping for the girls too.
one thing to bare in mind is i didnt think 7 nights was long enough.

“Dreams Cancun - Good Stay”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

This was a last minute reservation since a long planned cruise got screwed up due to flight problems.

I liked the size of the resort because it was not too large and it was easy to get around. It is located near the far end of the hotel zone so expect a 20 to 25 minute ride from the airport.

The service was excellent and the majority of the staff was very friendly. Guillermo at the World Cafe and Santiago at the Oceana are very good. The only exception was the pool and beach service deteriorated after 12PM due to all the food orders that get delivered. Tipping does not help this either. There were 2 or 3 times where my drink order never showed up. Just go to the swim up bar or walk to the nearest bar for quicker service.

The bar drinks are pretty typical of all-inclusive resorts. Some drinks are stronger than others, but none are too bad. I found Barracuda the best bar with the best service.

The food overall is OK - nothing spectacular. World Cafe is the only choice for breakfast and I found the fruit and pastries to be the best choices. Most of the "hot plate" items are definitely not hot. The food at the Seaside Grill was OK, but the vegetables were luke warm at best. The lobster bisque and clam chowder at Oceana is very good as well as the ceasar salad. The entrees taste good, but again are not served hot.

The main attraction at Dreams Cancun is the dolphin pool. There were 5 dolphins swimming around when we were there. They do 3 swim with the dolphins sessions daily and I enjoyed watching the sessions every time. Everybody stops by the dolphin pool for a close up view.

Since a room was not available in the class I reserved I was given a free upgrade to a Dolphin view room. The room was nice, but nothing spectacular. The room was definitely kept clean, as was the rest of the resort. Check in and check out are very quick.

Overall I would say this is a 3 star resort that I would consider staying in again next year. It wasn't spectacular but it was clean and quiet which are two things I look for.

“Great Family Hotel”

Dreams was a very nice hotel - my only complaints are rooms and pool. We booked 3 months in advance and requested adjoining rooms for the family to be together. I had read reviews on this place and knew they messed up on the rooms quite a bit, so I made sure to have our travel agent call them twice to confirm we had these rooms. On arrival, we did not - they had us separated, upon req. there we only ended up with rooms next to each other - which worked out but it still would have been nice to have rooms connecting. The pool is nice but it closes to early, I don't know what they expect you to do with teenagers after 7pm. Other than those the hotel was great. The food was good, the daily activities were great - the scenery was awesome and it is close to shopping (walking distance). If you have a family and want the rooms to be together - make sure you tell your travel agent that you want connecting rooms and not adjoining rooms - apparently there is a language barrier down there as well.
